Can I delete $Windows.~BT, $Windows.~WS, Windows.old, and everything inside SoftwareDistribution/Download after Windows 10 is installed?
Unless you don't miss any backups, yes
so i tried to install with the thumb drive, and it keeps asking for a cd key, and when i click to upgrade the current version it asks me to take out the boot device and boot to windows and later plug it back
how do you repair windows 10? some of the apps are corrupt and I don't want to reinstall
that's air for steam however i am contractually obligated to plug metro for steam dom just updated 4.0 earlier, specially designed to match windows 10
Holy shit Metro 4.0 looks good, I had no idea it released.

I've heard Win10 is crash heavy. Should I update now or wait a while for the bugs to be sorted?
After the first reboot on the "upgrading windows" screen the first 30% take fucking forever. I've been on this screen for maybe half an hour
So far no problems on my main desktop. Nvidia drivers working fine after first restart, all my files are here after the upgrade. My tablet on the other hand is having issues. And on my third computer, the update isn't triggering the dialog box and when I tried using the tool it said "something happened Windows 10 installation failed."
Anyone got his Windows 10 Preview build updated ?
So, meanwhile it's the 29th down here and it still won't download the remaining pieces of the upgrade. What gives I wonder? [T]http://i.imgur.com/wFZOEEj.png[/T] I tried the suggested command four times over now, and kept hitting try again to no avail so far.
Works like a charm, except customization is totally fucking broken. I can only select certain colors for customization - the old Control Panel theme color customization sliders are gone and there are no options to customize themes at all. It's "pick between these 20 colors that's it no more for you." There isn't even a decent red - they're all shades of pink. If I try to open the old personalization menu under Control Panel, it closes itself immediately. Fucking obnoxious. Also upset that I can't just have a simple list of programs on the left side of the start menu, now I have to use the excessively pointlessly big ones that spread to the right. Can't just have a simple list - it doesn't allow that. It runs much better but either the install fucked up customization or it's really really insanely limited to 20 colors and no slider and you can't pin things to the left side of the start menu - only make giant 50x50 squares on the right part.
This install screen after the first reboot looks quite nice. Way better than the update from 8 to 8.1

It's kind of annoying
Woooo, Finally :hypeisreal:
Fuck, gonna do a clean install because i can't download it again
There's a registry change you can do to use a color you want, and also a change you can make to make the titlebar's the same color, other than white. It's kind of annoying
Idiotic of them to remove something as basic as a color slider. Lots of really dumb design choices - really really hating that I can't seem to find a way to pin things to the start menu without having it leave a giant gap on the left side and making a square on the right side. Attempting to drag-and-drop just makes a big NO symbol and won't let me. Is there some other way to use old-style program pinning to the start menu? Really uninterested in using the live tiles or icon-only squares stretching across the main part of the screen. Also gonna find a way to neuter Cortana and all the "apps" and the store and all that shite.
Once I can use my monitors properly I'll be very happy with Win10. Edge Browser is fun, too.
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/yNuKYIA.jpg[/img_thumb] It is clean and pretty

Unless someone knows how to get those working again..?
When upgrading, is it normal for it to sit at 0% for a while?
I've been on this "upgrading windows" screen for about an hour now :suicide:
What the hell, it bluescreened twice while trying to install, then gave up and restored Windows 7. Now whenever I open GWX I get this: [t]https://i.imgur.com/vsRx28k.png[/t] Also, now my "shut down" button has the little windows update icon on it, but whenever I shut down it doesn't actually install anything.
I've been on this "upgrading windows" screen for about an hour now :suicide:
Took me from around 12:30pm until nearly 2. It'll take at least an hour, probably around an hour and a half. Noticeably sped up after around 75%.
So after upgrading, I decided to do a clean install. Looks like you never need to put in a key if you are signed into a microsoft account when you did your first upgrade. Automatically activated.
Also, how the flying fuck do I make the search bar show up in the Start Menu? I've already disabled Cortana and all that, but if I remove the search icon it doesn't appear in the start menu at all. The entire start menu is borked as fuck if they really were planning a "return to form" with Windows 10. Customization is terrible, in order to pin programs to the left side you apparently have to make a separate folder in Documents full of individual shortcuts and then pin that to the start menu. Nightmarishly bad design decisions. Just let me drag a fucking iTunes icon to the left part of the start menu - there's zero reason to prevent that other than "you're using our design wrong!"
Try "refresh"
will that fix my startmenu being non-responsive or just reinstall the files from the previously used data? I'm trying to get DISM to repair from image top fix the corruption from my sfc scanned log
Takes about 2 hours.
