The get windows 10 troubleshooter says my windows 7 version is out of date, yet I have service pack 1 installed and every single update in the windows update program installed with no new updates available.
Where is this troubleshooter? I'd like to use it.
Upgrade went fine on 3/5 of PCs. 2 of them I am however unable to open the Settings menu on. It immediately disappears. Can't install updates either because they're a part of the Settings app.
Well, shit.
Damnit, my laptop gets the Get Windows 10 tray icon but my desktop doesn't, they both have the same OS setup from the same disc and they're both fully updated, with the KB updates necessary for it to show up, my desktop's requirements beat my laptop in every way so it can't be that.
My reservation shows no signs of wanting to be done :c
Though my $Windows.~BT file is 6.22GB, so hopefully it will be done soon.
So I had to use wuauclt.exe /updatenow command to download the update which it worked, after it took a long arse time to update (Australian internet means even 2GB or so takes fucking FOREVER), it sat at "Preparing files for installation" or some shit like that and it failed.
Now I got this error when I checked out update history:

Any ideas? If I have to download it again I'll be fucking pissed.
I miss the windows 8 sounds
I miss the windows 8 sounds
If it's just sounds then I'm sure it's as easy as replacing the sound file.
Just gotta find a place that has win8 sounds.
FOR ANYONE STILL HAVING TROUBLE DOWNLOADING THE UPDATE, especially for people with a 140MB $Windows.~BT folder that refuses to get any larger
https://www.reddit.com/r/Windows10/comments/3a6znd/we_couldnt_update_the_system_reserved_partition/
Do this, then clean out SoftwareDistribution/Download, delete $Windows.~BT and do the wuauclt.exe /updatenow thing, it will start the download proper.
okay so im running dishonored at 1fps whats up with that windows 10

good 4k post right there
On my Surface Pro 3, it's like nothing has changed. My computer functions almost exactly as it did before, which is getting me tempted to upgrade my desktop. I was going to wait, but seeing how I can continue my daily use without change, I might update it.
Save for some driver hang-ups earlier making SLI not even appear to have been recognized(which updating drivers fixed), Windows 10 has been the single smoothest OS upgrade I've done.
apparently you can make w10 notify you of updates. May only work on Pro tho.
I found a solution online for the Nvidia driver problem.
- Search Device Manager on your computer
- Go to display adapters
- Right click on whatever it is (For me it was a GTX 980 and there should be a warning sign on it)
- Update driver software
- Hit search automatically for for updated driver software
- Restart and it should be working perfectly w/ Directx12 if you have the card for it.
Bonus:
After I got all the shit sorted out, everything has been really fluid and smooth for me. Windows 10 could use a little optimization and tweaks in a few areas but, I like Windows 10 far more than Windows 8 imo. Also, Google Chrome is apparently faster than Microsoft Edge.
I just get that when using Windows to search automatically for drivers.

Is this thing true? I have a 17GB recovery partition on my laptop and having more space is always a nice thing.

My SSD suddenly has 20GB more space than on Windows 7, so it might as well be true!
So I guess we're waiting for the next insider build again now.
What is the latest w10 build? For some reason I have 10240.
I'm still stuck on Build 10074... Help.
So I have the Windows BT folder at 6.40GB, windows completely up to date and it doesn't install.
Anybody here with a student/faculty windows 7? It's technically a volume license but I'm optimistic that it works.
The ding sound drives me nuts. But so far my install has gone well. No Nvidia issues.....yet.
okay all my games either don't start or run at 1fps

Neither of my two windows 7 installs will even start downloading. :suicide:
Test post from Windows 10.
Everything looks so nice now!
Apparently Cortana is only available to people in North America at the moment. Fantastic :frown:

I meant a different thing. I still have this separate Windows 8 recovery partition and am wondering if it's still of any use since, according to that news article, "Windows 10 will (...) no longer require a recovery partition".

That's because she's only available in English. :poot:
How do I change the temperature from Fahrenheit to a normal temperature scale like Celsius?
Fun fact; the music player has almost gapless playback, so that's nice.
