If I want the lowest chance of a fuckup, should I download it through windows update or download the iso off of microsoft's website?
did i fuck up
i scheduled my update for the 30th
but i want it now, and i can't figure out how to do it
should i just use the standalone installer
Is it alright to upgrade windows using the windows 10 download tool instead of windows update? Windows update does not want to download windows 10 no matter what I try. (It doesn't even make an attempt)
I upgraded just fine. So far it's pretty nice but I noticed my colours are off, like if some sort of slight old time western filter was applied to it.
Any way to fix this or am I just going to have to mess around with my monitor settings?
Edge is so nice to use, the only problem I have is no support for adblock.
You can always use the hosts file.
Get something like this one: http://someonewhocares.org/hosts/
This shit is sexy and seems faster than 8.1 on a E5200 64bit 2 GB.
Obligatory upgrade song:
Win 10 works and I am happy.
Can I savely remove the windows.old folder?

I would really love those 15 GB
Use Disk Cleanup.
Computer > Right click C: > Properties > Disk Cleanup > Clean up system files > Remove previous Windows installation
Well it looks like this update has fried my entire PC, and that retarded fastboot thing prevents me from fixing it via BIOS.

Cold off, drain all power, you'll be able to get to the bios. I've never had an issue.
For some reason my screen keeps turning gray and then back again to normal. Windows can display over this gray but it just flashes back and forth on my desktop. Is it a Nvidia driver thing?
[editline]29th July 2015[/editline]
Maybe it keeps loading the desktop and unloading it again?
Could someone help me? My computer looks like it's having a seizure
Things didn't go as expected:

And Windows Update says I'm up to date.
I tried installing a new nvidia driver but it's not compatible apparently and my computer is so hard to control to begin with
I'm using a GeForce GT540m btw
If I run setup.exe from the ISO, do I still keep my Windows 8.1 product key? (I've reserved but I'd rather use the ISO to upgrade as the download is stuck on 140MB).
Can i install Win10 without Updated KB2976978? I cant get that update to install.

They just released a new driver on their site (353.62), you could try that one if you haven't already.
Cold off, drain all power, you'll be able to get to the bios. I've never had an issue.
Well I did get to the bios but the rest of the computer is still unusable due to that weird freeze issue, which nobody else seems to have.

I'd assume upgrading with the ISO would work the same as with Windows update. I'm about to try it out on a couple computers myself.

Put a spoon in it's mouth and lay it on it's side.
Have you tried setting the compatibility mode in your executable ?
Did that. Still does it.
Also is there any reason why the start menu won't work for me?
Holy fucking finally, the latest Nvidia driver works with Windows 10 now (353.62).
fuck yes i managed to boot windows 8.1 again, now i'm going to do a real upgrade
I kinda wanna do a fresh install. I haven't done so in years, who knows what junk I have knocking around in here.
Maybe a bit late but you could make a partition with enough space for the games, and then format the partition thats left(so with the rest of the computer). You would require some work if you dont have enough space to split your drive like that.
I am not sure if you can format just a partition of a physical hard drive though.
Alright, so I downloaded Windows 10 off of microsoft.com (http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10), and ran the download, No UI or signs of running, but Modern Setup Host is writing around 40MB/s of data on my disk.
Hoping that I didn't already fuck up somehow, thats my luck.
edit: It stopped writing data
So... I still have the preview, I think. Build 10240. Which is the latest? Will I be able to keep this?

Download the Swedish .iso file direct from Microsoft and upgrade. Or English if you want to be a traitor.
