Alright guys, someone's gotta help me or I'm gonna stab myself with a fork. I've done all the solutions that I'm aware of. I've done Force Update in CMD Prompt, I've used the Media Creator tool, I've used Windows Update normally, I've downloaded all other updates, but I just can't download this bloody thing. Windows Update just keeps failing and the tool keeps crashing. I REALLY need someone to help me. I NEED this upgrade and it's the only thing so far that can possibly have a chance at fixing my PC. Please, anything. Anything at all.
Have you deleted all the update files and tried again?
2 questions- in all this confusion I managed to miss if it was BS or not- did people with insider accounts also get w10 full for free? I had installed the w10 preview fresh on a desktop and haven't seen anything since other stuff started updating. My laptop however is installing now, which had an OEM 8.1, so I assume I couldn't just apply that thing's serial to my desktop, right?
Sooo, how do I make search ACTUALLY search my apps foobar is RIGHT THERE under "All apps", yet nothing comes up when I search for it, or anything else that didn't come with the OS for that matter
So Cortana doesn't even work in Canada what the fuck We speak English just like you, and the application is just a glorified google searching AI / Reminder app...
They can't trust you with speaking English! Just change your country to UK or US if you want it to work. It complains about my laptops microphone for some reason though, even though it works just fine.
For everyone upgrading do not download the windows 10 upgrade from the windows 10 site and select clean install, otherwise you will have to buy a windows 10 key or revert back to windows 8 and activate your key then do a normal upgrade and clean install. I missed that somehow so I guess most of my day will be spent downgrading upgrading then clean installing. Yay.
Had myself an easy install, currently doing a reset to wipe the drive.
If I run setup.exe from the ISO, do I still keep my Windows 8.1 product key? (I've reserved but I'd rather use the ISO to upgrade as the download is stuck on 140MB).
The answer to this is no.

Windows 10 had completely ruined a lot of things on my computer, if anyone can help. That will be greatly appreciated. I can no longer play any videos on any web browser. From what I use now, Firefox. To the new browser Edge. The video screen is blank and it does show the video progress bar. It does not move at all, I hear nothing on the screen and the blank screen is just blank no error message. I've tried installing Adobe Flash Player again, it did not help. I've also tried restarting the computer, nothing seems to be working. To make the matter worst, I cannot seem to open up Steam, it appears to be checking for updates and after that, the window box disappears and nothing opens up. Tried deleting clientregistry.blob and restarting computer, still nothing. If anyone got these solutions to these problems, that will be greatly appreciated.
do you guys think i should get windows 10? i have an Nvidia GTX 780 and i'm not sure if i should install windows 10 or not at the moment.
I've got a GTX 970 and it's running fine for me, not sure if that helps.
Alright, finally on Windows 10, everything seems to work fine, including drivers now. The only issues I've found is that its slow as FUCK on startup for some reason, like it takes 30-50 seconds to startup as opposed to like the 10-20 it took on W8.1. Also image uploading is broken on Edge, you cannot upload images to imgur by drag and drop anymore :c
Have you deleted all the update files and tried again?
You mean the stuff in "SoftwareDistribution"? Yep. Multiple times.
I knew I should have waited. I installed and I'm sitting at a black screen with a cursor after logging in. I can push CTRL+ALT+DEL and log out, but that's it. No launching programs, unfortunately.
how do i reduce the size of the window buttons? theyre huge
Ok so i cant get any of my nvidia drivers to install. I have a GTX 760
Oh boy, Microsoft Edge appears to be as RAM hungry as Chrome, taking up 540 MB of RAM already. edit: Oh god steam is so slow, I may have to revert back to 8.1
Ok so i cant get any of my nvidia drivers to install. I have a GTX 760
i had the same issue, the way i solved it was removing everything nvidia related (except experience) and then i used a normal installation file for 353.62 drivers here: http://international.download.nvidia.com/Windows/353.62/353.62-desktop-win10-64bit-international.hf.exe
The installer said it was starting the part where you choose what to keep but it suddenly skipped over that and now it says it's getting updates. Will I be able to choose what to keep after the updates are downloaded?
The answer to this is no.
Reported the same issue on last page, but I just kept smashing the button and now it activated. So yeah, it's a server issue, should be fine once things calm down a bit.
What is the cheapest way I would go about getting a key for Windows 10? On Microsoft's online store they want $180AUD for Windows 10 Home, which sounds like a lot, especially when I may be buying multiple licenses. I found /r/microsoftsoftwareswap/ which looks like a possible option but the much lower price and unknown origin of the keys makes me sceptical. Also if I was to buy a Windows 8.1 key would I need to install 8.1 then go through the upgrade process or could I just install Windows 10 fresh and enter the 8.1 key during the installation?
Anyone able to answer these questions I posted several pages back? The second question about just getting an 8.1 key in particular since it seems the cheapest way to obtain a copy without using shady resellers.
Hello from Microsoft Edge! It's quite a bit faster than Chrome I've found so far. It also has a nice UI
How did you guys get your license key for the clean install?
oh cortana, you cheeky computer
netflix app load infinitely for anyone else? also how the fuck do i pin shit to the start menu on the left like windows 7? classic shell doesn't work perfectly and if i could do the aforementioned i would just use the regular start menu.

Ok Nvidia problem fixed by restarting. Now i cant get on facebook because cookies are not enabled when they are lol.
So I got my free Windows 10 copy through DreamSpark and when I try to download through the Secure Download Manager I get this: What?
How did you guys get your license key for the clean install?
I did the install directly to my PC and once it finished I started a Windows reset. Hasn't finished yet
