Upgraded to W10 earlier today and then nuked it as I had planned. Love the OS, especially stuff like multiple task bars for multi-monitor setups and multiple desktops. I do have one issue that annoys the shit out of me, though. I'm not sure what I'd call this, but occasionally in W7 say in Skype/Steam when you received a message it used to highlight the icon in the taskbar red and flash in an annoying manner until you opened it. Well, now it just highlights itself orange and never goes away, like this; What can I do about this?
Is there any way to override this stupid fucking "automatic display extension" feature? It keeps fucking up my monitor since it tries to extend to a display that doesn't exist. It's nearly unusable at this point. I just need it to detect the display, the ONLY one that's plugged in, and use ONLY it.

I'm having a weird issue, I have both a gtx 780 and 570. With 3 monitors. If I plug in my 570, it works. If I have my 780, it works. If both are in, only the 780 works. Any ideas?
Just a word of warning for anyone using or planning to upgrade Windows 10, Resolution Scaling with AMD drivers in games so far from what I've checked, doesn't seem to work. Pain in the ass for people who play CSGO especially
is it possible you can save a backup of windows 8.1 if you want to go back to it?
is it possible you can save a backup of windows 8.1 if you want to go back to it?
I believe it does this automatically, you get 30 days to turn back to W8.1 if you upgrade. Don't think you get that option if you do a fresh install, though.
I can't install a single app from the Windows Store, I keep getting 0x803F7003 during the Acquiring License step, even on free apps. Anyone know a fix?
I set the Windows 10 Upgrade to be in 2 days from now, but my computer doesn't have the option Shut down or Restart without applying some Updates first (which is definitely Win10) What the fuck? Why even have that option if you're gonna lie to me and upgrade anyway?
ohh false alarm it says the update 'Failed', presumably because it isn't past the scheduled time yet woops :v:
I have an Aspire E1-571 but when I go to the Acer website and search for drivers it shows outdated drivers. Will I have problems if I install the ones for Aspire V7-481?
On the left of the Acer Support site (if you scroll down) You will see "Windows 10 update" link, that link will show the "official" laptop devices by acer that support Windows 10. I dont have a V7 481 either. My Laptop is using a Elantech touchpad and i tried it and it works

I've used another display in 2 of my HDMI ports, and it keeps trying to detect those on startup, so I need it to forget those ever existed.
So anyone have any idea if it's possible to open this window in 10?
I downgraded back to 8.1. What should I do before redoing the update to make sure my ethernet works? I've uninstalled all my antivirus because apparently that's an issue and I made sure my ethernet drivers are up to date. Is there anything else I should be doing?
cortana is fucking horrible
Why is this install taking so long. It feels like its been a hour and it is still at 10 percent. But I know it is making progress because the copying files thing SLOWLY crawls up.
STILL preparing installation IS this normal. It's been 4 hours
This is why you never download something on the first day.
So. Apparently Insiders will need to revert to their old OS then update as normal.... Or at least that's what MS support said.
This is why you never download something on the first day.
its not first day. it has been out for a week. people are getting it now.
Right now I'm wondering, what am I supposed to do when I do a drastic hardware change such as a new CPU and motherboard, or when I buy a new SSD?
Right now I'm wondering, what am I supposed to do when I do a drastic hardware change such as a new CPU and motherboard, or when I buy a new SSD?
depends on how your key is licensed step 1: authenticate your key as a windows 10 key by installing windows 10 if you're an OEM key, good luck transferring to a new mobo if you're a retail key, you should just be able to reauth
Well I should put it like this, I got none of the above.
every time I do it "Something happened" pops up
Has anyone been able to clean install Windows 10 with a Windows 8 key?
had 8.1 running on my macbook pro, installed the upgrade using the media creation tool, found the windows 10 product key and did a clean install using the ISO's from microsoft's site. for whatever reason the efi's bios emulation didn't see the usb disk I made, so I had to dig up some DVD-RWs from like 10 years ago. it worked! apple's boot camp drivers worked for everything but the radeon 6750m stuff, but i was able to get it from windows update through device manager. also right-click wasn't working on my trackpad, but that was easily fixed by turning it off and on again with the boot camp control panel. thank you for reading my blog edit: i'm sure someone already said this, but basically the most painless way to do a clean install is to upgrade to 10 using the media creation tool, grab the product key with something like produkey, and install that shit
Anyone else using a Logitech G510s here? When I use the volume control wheel, my screen flashes which is really weird.
After some hours with it, i found it amazing. Any way to enable Cortana and all those fancy stuff?
I've got a genuine Windows 7 key, can I use that key alone to install genuine Windows 10? Or do I have to install Windows 7 first, and then upgrade?
Nobody?
If anyone is having issues with activating (either blank error or 0xC004F034), this batch script worked for me:
:loop cscript /nologo slmgr.vbs /ato goto loop
crude and simple but eh, it worked.
After some hours with it, i found it amazing. Any way to enable Cortana and all those fancy stuff?
Change region to US or UK. Setting the language to English isn't enough, it's dumb.
