So uh, how long is it supposed to take to install?
It's been sitting on the "Taking care of a few things" screen for well over an hour. I'm getting really worried.
Install went smoothly, but is there a way to fix this in Firefox with non-default themes?

Pretty late to the party, but how do I upgrade? The get windows 10 thing on the taskbar still says I have it reserved, it acts like it's not out yet or something.
Tried using the installer and got:
"Couldn't install Windows 10
0xC1900101 - 0x20017
The installation failed in the SAFE_OS phase with an error during BOOT operation"
guess I'll just try and wait until they push it to my computer.

Using this did the trick for me.

By the way does anyone know how to remove the taskbar from a secondary monitor?

I'm trying to upgrade through that program and the 'Checking Updates' part is taking a really long time for me for some reason.
I finally got my internet working on Windows 10. I had to download new drivers from Intel on my phone and then transfer the installer to my computer.
Oh may gawd, I fell in love with Windows 10. It's amazing. This one feature owns everything on my laptop. Virtual Desktops with those awesome hotkeys:
CTRL + WIN + LEFT | RIGHT => Switch Desktop.
CTRL + WIN + D => Create new Desktop.
CTRL + WIN + F4 => Close Desktop.
My upgrade did went well mostly,
some minor issues. Fixed all of them in 15 mins.
But one problem persists... My startmenu is freezes up, no solution. ._. any idea?
:snip:
Restarting the pc somehow made the installer stop crashing?

Don't worry, I've gone through the same process.
Same goes for the update itself, it will show as a blank screen for a while (less than an hour)
Which one do I choose? People are saying not choose the first option.
You clearly go with the first option. If it errors out when it tries to update follow my guide here:

Been getting this as well. I also had a similar problem on 8.1 and was hoping updating would fix it.
Guess not.
Loving 10, upgrading my work laptop tomorrow
AMD Driver 15.7.1 is out now. Previous 15.7(.0) was made for technical preview and had things disabled and was more of a Beta than this version.
This Technical Preview driver for Windows® 10 is provided "As Is". Please note, some features have been disabled in this preview driver. The official AMD driver offering full feature set support will be made available when Windows® 10 officially launches on July 29th, 2015.
Unfortunately, I'm still stuck with the black screen and cursor after installing Windows 10. I don't know what to do. I've seen other people with this problem and there is no resolution that applies to me, sans making a completely new installation which is pretty bullshit.
I can log in, but that's it. I can push CTRL ALT DELETE and get to that screen, but I can only log off, turn off my computer, and see some metro bits like my network connection. That's it.

someone please help :( 1st of all my slow connection it takes 12 hours to downlaod and then this error :'(
i will die
can't download anything from the store, I get error code 0x803F7000
This is shit.
I was on the Insider Program, but when upgrading to the RTM build a while ago, the install fucked up and it rolled back, only all the things that use the new Windows 10 APIs are broken - settings is broken, start is broken, the apps are all broken. Now I'm stuck on 10136 with update not working, so i can't try updating again.
I have Windows 8 I can roll back to, but I lost the disk, I just have the key, and I can't download Windows 8 from MS' website, because mine is a System Builder's key, not a retail key, so it won't work for the ISO. Is there some way I can get Windows 8 on this PC without using my key, then switch over to my key, and then finally upgrade?
It feels like it would make more sense if they made it so you could use Windows 7/8/8.1 keys with the Windows 10 installer, since anyone who uses them gets it for free, but no that would be too simple.

I see you're new here.
Pointless emotes will not help you, and will actually turn people away more often than not. Proper spelling and grammar, unless posting something meant to make fun of something (Or satire in general), are very important as well. Be constructive with your posts. And no, you won't die.
As for your issue, there are a few fixes. Most common one that I've seen on a google search is this:
What this error means is, your Windows 10 installation folder is unfinished and/or corrupted. Now, how do you fix that?
1. Go into "C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download" and delete everything in that folder.
2. Now, run the command prompt as an administrator. Type in "wuauclt.exe /updatenow".
3. Go to your Control Panel > Windows Update and your Windows 10 should start re-downloading from scratch, hopefully without flaws this time.
EDIT: For those who still have issues, several users reported that setting their time forward (to the First of August for example) and then doing the above steps again helped them resolve the issue.
An alternative fix is to download Windows 10 from Here and use your windows 7 or 8 key to upgrade.
Did someone say there's some kind of script to find your Windows 10 key?
So apparently my issue was something new related to W10 in general.

Can't have mixed GPUs right now.
But Yea. It has been three hours and so far only 54% of the files for the windows 10 update has been copied. Is this normal? I mean it is progressing. But it is extremely slow

Thank you! I knew there had to be a better hotkey than WIN + TAB. Now I'll probably abuse the fuck out of virtual desktops.
[editline]29th July 2015[/editline]
I also love how each virtual desktop has their own task bar.
Finally finished the upgrade (took like 4 hours), now I can't activate Windows 10. I get Error code: 0xC004F034 when I try to activate.
Anyone else getting this?

just wait i think
servers are swamped currently
For some reason Cortana reduces my microphone volume once I talk to her. She can understand the first thing I say, but as soon as she replies she lowers the volume and anything I say after that won't get picked up.
protip for those who want the old personalisation menu
it was linked here before but that was pages ago

spread this around if anybody asks about the lack of personalisation tools

nvidia suddenly doesn't like me. I've been using the preview build for months with no issues, but now that it went through the official upgrade/install process, games will crash once they try loading anything 3D and installing the latest driver returns this-

attempted both a standard and clean installation, same. installed from the downloaded-from-site file and geforce experience, same results
