First news on what's coming next for Windows 10, over at The Verge To give you the cliff's notes: - "Service Release 1" coming next month, possibly next week. No new features, just bug fixes. - Larger update coming October, featuring Messaging app and Edge extensions. Testers will get their hands on this stuff soon. - Messaging app: Skype integration for Windows 10, ala iMessage/Facetime on OSX. Phone and video calls and Skype chat without needing Skype installed. - Edge extensions: Aiming to support all the same APIs as Chrome to make porting from Chrome require minimal/no extra work. Extensions are hosted on Windows Store and can be sideloaded by developers.
I love their whole "lets just use the same shit chrome has" for everything, including windows phone apps.
SO I finally got the desktop to windows 10. For some reason my start menu takes ages to open.
So I installed Windows 10 but it seems my system doesn't recognise my GPU any more (Nvidia GTX 680). Is there any way to fix this or should I revert to 7 until there is a fix?

I had that, install standalone geforce experience, then the older driver and update it to the latest one through geforce experience
I'm sure this has been asked, but does anyone have a fix for installing GPU drivers on windows 10? I'm running two GTX 760's (in SLI, once I can actually get the drivers working) but I get a failure message every time I try to install them.
Whenever I get to around 35% on the W10 install my screen blacks out and I have no clue if it's making any progress. Yesterday I left it for around 3 hours whilst I was out and when I came back it was still on a black screen. When I force the computer to restart from this point it just reverts back to 8.1 again, so it's clearly still in the installer - but I don't know if it's made any progress or how close it may/may not be to finishing. And in any case this is very similar to when I ugradede my GPU last time, where it would automatically install the integrated graphics drivers over my actualy GPUs drivers, causing a black screen - but at least there I could blacklist the wrong drivers and force the right ones before it black screened.

If I reformat my install of Windows 7 will I lose the ability to install Windows 10 for free? Or should I upgrade my Windows 7 and then reformat after the upgrade?
If I reformat my install of Windows 7 will I lose the ability to install Windows 10 for free? has anyone else been getting a "logonui.exe" error when turning off/restarting the pc? it pops up on the "restarting" or "shutting down" animation, but doesn't seem to really show up otherwise
is anyone else having audio/video stuttering in chrome?
How do I get rid of this ugly wallpaper? [t]http://i.imgur.com/kX46LVt.jpg[/t] Also how do I set the Edge language and spell check to english? Dutch sucks dick.
does anyone know if there's a way to pin a specific team/sport to start like you could from the app in Win8? you used to just be able to go into the app, go to the page for the team/sport and right click but now that the apps just open up on the desktop those functions aren't there anymore
Also for anyone that wants to change the login screen background: https://github.com/PFCKrutonium/Windows-10-Login-Background-Changer/releases/tag/1 [editline]30th July 2015[/editline] Install display drivers. Assuming you have already installed the English language pack. [editline]30th July 2015[/editline]
Is there any way to resize tile groups? All of this wasted space is really bugging me
Those tiles are 2 boxes big and the start menu can be increased in threes. So if you move them along and make a third colum you should be fine.

my biggest gripe with windows 10 so far - there's no option for dd/mm/yy. There should be. Because now I have to have it looking like this for the day and month to be the proper way round.
fuck you that image is sick, and you only see it for two seconds while you put in your PIN
I really don't understand why everyone seems to love the new default wallpaper. To me it just looks like a background someone would have rendered back in the Vista era. I don't think it suits the whole modern flat style at all.
is it possible to make windows autologin? I understand a password on my tablet but I really dont think I need one on my desktop.
There is though?
weird, I didn't have an option like that. Mine looks like this: but Thunderbolt's method worked. Thanks man! It was legit vexing me!
Is it normal for my Windows 10 to boot up and shut down so slowly? It's taking aprox twice the time as Windows 7
