I have a USB that is set to be a bootable drive, so once I backup my shit, I'm gonna reformat and set different partitions for the different OS (Currently running on 1 1tb drive + 1 2tb usb external) sometime soon-ish.
Tried windows 10 preview out for a couple days.
My rating 3/10
Full of bugs. Catalyst Control Center breaks at random, general software incompatibility.
As always compatibility mode does nothing :D
Still has a useless start menu and they are still trying to push that tile crap on us.
Everyone at Microsoft needs to be fired. Hire some real geeks to make a version of windows that doesn't suck.
sounds like a user problem to me

I have been tweaking windows for over 5 years now. I know my way around the OS.
Windows 10 Technical Preview is full of bugs.
The start menu is better in Windows 10 than it was in 8.
However it is still quite disorganized and preloaded with junk apps that most people will never make use of.
Try installing 7-Zip in Windows 10 tech preview. It will get stuck during installation.

Are you really sure you know the definition of a "Technical Preview"? Because I don't think you get the whole concept.
fucking what?

Points for Inori homepage.
Disabled ratings, mah ego can't take it :V
If the Technical preview is already smoother and faster than Windows 8.1.1. I wonder If the final Version will be even smoother.

Blame AMD and their shitty drivers, not Microsoft
Are mentaly challenged or have you even now not understood that this is a Technical Preview?
Ofc the drivers are gonna be bad and unoptimized. Hell there is even a lot of applications that don't work yet.
I have had no problems with my amd driver on windows 10.
Windows 10 should look something like this.

Simple, functional and tablet friendly with multitasking always at your fingertips or mouse pointer.

Wow. Good luck with that for practical use.
Btw, I've installed W10 on my main computer and it's flawless.

Or blame yourself for complaining that drivers dont work on a technical preview of windows that AMD have obviously not released drivers for yet

What do you mean?
File explorer when I need to do stuff under the hood.
Chrome for browsing the internet.
bnet and steam for games.
Spotify for music.
Popcorn Time for movies and tv.
Couldn't be anymore practical.
Couple that with a start menu that has a nice app store and access to the control panel... profit!

Yeah, it can work for you, but what about the people who need to work with Windows instead of admiring a pretty desktop?
You can't make such a minimal desktop because some people will just need easy access to their work folders, not having to search through a file explorer or start menu.

Entirely subjective. What you may find "simple and practical", other people may find empty and difficult to navigate. Not everyone sticks to just five programs when using their computer on a daily basis.

Have a start menu with links to those things... profit!
Keeping apps on the taskbar allows you to manage your workflow quickly, they open and minimize in their assigned spot on the bar.

"Let's put all of the extra programs on another screen instead so my desktop doesn't get all messy!"
Sounds like you'd really benefit from the Windows 8 Metro UI with all of those tiles and what-not. Which you've already made perfectly clear that you hated.
please stop

YOUR workflow, but for example, an architect will need like 10 programs to work in just one day (My brother is one and trust me, you need a lot more than just 4 programs and a start menu)

Another screen? Your getting it all wrong bud, you aren't seeing what I did there...
I didn't put my apps on another screen they sit in the taskbar at the bottom of the screen.
They are always accessible, I don't have to minimize windows to open a program from the desktop.
I don't even need to use the minimize button I just press the button on the taskbar to minimize or bring another app to the front.

Start button opens a tray with your 10 programs that you need. Or have the option to add another task bar to the top of the screen. There's room for 20+ apps on the taskbar with a 1080p screen.
You could have a scrolling or tabbed taskbar to support unlimited apps.
Keeping apps on the taskbar allows you to manage your workflow quickly, they open from and minimize to their assigned spot on the bar.
Microsoft should hire me.
Well I tried running 10 in a virtual machine which did not turn out so well.
I like it, except I would've appreciated it more on a real laptop. I'm going to have to do that later on.
As a Mac and Windows 8.1 user, I kinda know it'll benefit my little beloved ThinkPad which uses 8.1 at the moment. It's a tech preview so it's kind of unfinished.

Number Two reason why I haven't gotten back into BBLean
Number One is the dedication needed to get it to work better on Windows 8
On the topic of touch-screen interfaces, I really prefer using modern applications over the desktop ones, including the start screen.
Why?
Because not everyone has touch precision so great that they can hit buttons on desktop interfaces, while modern applications all have a consistent and scaled interface tailored to the resolution of the device (and scaling factor).
i really like 10 preview. i dont feel lost when i switch from OS X (which i will continue to use primarily for photo and video editing. OS X just has better systems for this kind of thing). i won't call it flawless, but it's a lot better than the garbage interface in 8 that people were so set on defending

Can you elaborate on those OS X systems?

The only reason I use a mac for design is because it comes with loads of way better, expensive fonts.

Install SkyFont and grab the top 50 Google Fonts. Problem solved.
Source: I am a frequent Photoshop user and font whore.

I think this might be a good reason why Adobe has their TypeKit system in CC

I'm still set on defending the Windows 8 UI (because it was pretty good, in my opinion) - I have yet to install W10, but I'm not of the opinion that the changes are necessarily all good. From what I've seen of course, I'll be running W10 extensively when I get around to installing it. I was also pretty critical of the W8 UI until I ran it, so I guess I might end up preferring W10 either way.
For the most part all the changes in Windows 10 are optional right now. You can easily re-enable the Start Screen from the taskbar properties. The most significant things you can't disable is the new Search and Task View buttons. I'm hoping they either add an option or someone finds a registry change to disable them.
