This can be fixed by changing your language for non-unicode programs to English us

This should fix it I had the same problem at first.

This doesn't apply to me at all, it's already set to English US.
I finally got it to work by just telling it to download an ISO and then put it on a flash drive with Rufus. Now here's hoping the upgrade actually works this time.
I've come across a pretty annoying bug. While browsing in (windows) explorer, every 10 seconds or so after scrolling down it will instantly scroll all the way back up to the top of the file list. Any ideas what could be wrong? It doesn't seem to happen in safe mode.

Where can I get to it in the window's old folder?
Why can't this billion dollar project get an art consistency pass, there's still shit from windows xp in here
I can't say I care about looks over speed functionality and usability if they only cared about looks they'd release another Vista and we know how that turned out. (Aero)

Strange I didn't have it when I briefly used internet explorer edge to download Water fox.

The location of the registry will be the same just within the Windows.old folder; http://www.thewindowsclub.com/where-are-the-windows-registry-files-located-in-windows-7
For anyone running on the update: I STRONGLY suggest doing a clean install off of a disk/usb after backing up everything you want to transfer over. The update was basically unusable for me. I had problem after problem, some catastrophic, some minor. On the other hand, my clean install is running extremely smoothly with no real problems yet.
I agree upgrading can be fine for some people but I always recommend upgrading to Windows 10 then doing a clean install from within Windows 10 it removes alot of glitches and headaches in the end.

Now where do I find the old serial number through this? Or do I just move the registry folder into the new windows?

I don't know where the key is and I highly doubt it's in plaintext anywhere, but don't toss the registry from an old Windows into a new one, that's just asking for problems.
Just upgraded from windows 7 to 10 on my laptop and so far it's working perfect. i had no complications of anything with the installation and so far running it for some hours. It's great but takes a little to get used to after having used 7 for 6 years. Everything looks so big, the fonts especially. It's smooth and fast

Obviously, I'm about to start getting certified and start working for my friend's web design business and now my only tool of operation is going to be the horrid notepad until I can get my serial key. It's also bad I lost Microsoft Office too :hammered::suicide:
It took me two days of working at this shit but I finally, finally managed to get Windows 10 to reinstall itself and it's working perfectly. It seems almost everything was lost when it comes to programs, but, that's a price I'm willing to pay to have a functioning fucking computer.
I kinda wish I could put live tiles on my desktop
can i change the name for the user folder?
I kinda wish I could put live tiles on my desktop
I like the tablet mode. But I don't like how it gets rid of some of the desktop functionality. Wish I could just combine them

In case anyone else has this issue, I found what was the problem was. I had my wallpaper change every 10 seconds (a left-over setting from windows 8), and each time it would change the wallpaper it would refresh the explorer window, sending it to the top of the file list. Changing to a static wallpaper seems to have fixed this. Seems like the windows 10 'slideshow' feature causes this as well.
Got the wrong thread the last time, any reason why I should upgrade from 8.1 aside from ads in solitaire?

Nod32 is great. There's a free trial available.
Feels weird to see my OS icon say Windows 10
