yeah, but what is the price? your first born? fucking 84" 4k
Does give me high hopes about Microsoft's ability to support high DPI in the future.
this is true, i'd def like that.
is this real life
Fuck it Year of linux delayed ten years
I don't see anyone wearing glasses that large no matter how useful they are.
Does Microsoft actually expect people to wear an Oculus around their homes at all times just to watch Netflix? I'm also doubtful of how accurate their environment tracking will be. I'd be surprised if they actually were able to properly interpret the topology of a room and project things properly and come even close to their little mockup video.

Does anyone know if they're supposed to launch a "consumer preview" or beta for Windows 10 today?
Does anyone know if they're supposed to launch a "consumer preview" or beta for Windows 10 today?
I think they mentioned a new consumer preview coming out today or tomorrow.
So I stopped buffering after the first 20 minutes. What interesting things did they show about Windows 10?
Well let's see - Stream Xbox One games to W10 PCs - Free upgrade for a year for windows 7 and 8/8.1 users - a HoloLens thing which is a fancy augmented reality headset - Other stuff I forgot or didn't care about
I missed the first 30 minutes of the stream but the actual Windows 10 features seemed really lacking. All I was able to gather was Windows Phone continuity and an Xbox app really. And Cortana, which I still don't really see the appeal of.
I feel really confident that Windows 10 will convert most people over, the main desktop experience is essentially Windows 7+. Boots straight to desktop on my PC too.
Holograms...I can't wait to watch anime in a hologram!

Is it unreasonable to ask that individual platforms are improved and specialized for their specific target hardware and setting rather than trying to create these conglomerate systems that try to cater to everything all at once? This isn't just a Microsoft specific thing, I don't much understand the huge push towards "unity/synergy/mobility" and all this other fluff.
But seems like a lot of cool stuff coming from Microsoft. I'm excited.

The license thing seems cool, but is essentially useless to me because MSDNAA. I'll wait a bit more, maybe they have something useful to show.
Should have been looking at the windows central live blog m9s
Well let's see - Stream Xbox One games to W10 PCs - Free upgrade for a year for windows 7 and 8/8.1 users - a HoloLens thing which is a fancy augmented reality headset - Other stuff I forgot or didn't care about
I'd like to add to this: -Xbox app for windows 10 with built in gaming DVR tied directly to a key combo (win+g) that works on any game, even steam games -Windows 10 for phones which is vastly better than windows phone 8.1 in terms of better core apps (music app, photo app with album creation on the phone itself) and continuum similar to Apple with OSX and iPhone -The 'Spartan' browser which looks so much better than internet explorer -Cortana integration coming out the wazoo -Universal apps for all Windows 10 devices, which means the possibility of easier and more widespread development for Windows phone. As for now, the only thing I've gotten out of this presentation is that I'm gonna have a busy week, finding all the group policy rules and regedit entries to disable a lot of the new stuff for my company and customers, when the Consumer Preview hits. But who knows, maybe they unveil a professional edition that actually is aimed at work environments.
All we need is some sort of in-home streaming to Xbox One that's built in to 10, then if I ever get an Xbox One, I can use it to play games. But still, if I get an Xbox one, its nice to know I could put it somewhere else in my house and stream to my PC.

Not making console exclusives so you don't have to buy an Xbone in the first place.
I liked the UI changes for W10. Not increadibly fussed with Cortana and the AR thing, but it's cool nonetheless. Really disappointed in the gaming thing, with Windows PCs becoming basically an XB1 accessory. Seeing that massive Alienware tower being used just to play Minecraft. Although I supposed it was a way to bigger ask for MS to commit to bringing more of it's titles to PC.

Have the same underlying tech and APIs so you can deploy an app across all the platforms at once, without having to do more than build a different UI for each. For the interface itself, like Windows 8 tried to do, it doesn't work quite so well.
How long till we get cortana?
Sheesh, it seems to me like Microsoft is trying to wage war on loads of companies all at once for 10. Valve Software (Xbox app vs. Steam, though the Steam icon's inclusion makes me second-guess). Google (Now vs. Cortana, Chrome vs. Spartan). Mozilla (Firefox vs. Spartan). Apple (Siri vs. Cortana, and Safari vs. Spartan to a lesser degree). Adobe (Acrobat vs. Spartan's built-in PDF support). There's probably more that I can be bothered to think of at the moment, but it's going to be a crazy release.
Wage war? More like add what should've been there two versions ago.
lol wage war. Is this the 80s?
Adobe (Acrobat vs. Spartan's built-in PDF support).
Spartan better win then, because Acrobat sucks.
anybody else having trouble getting teamspeak to work on windows ten at the moment? i keep getting some "failed to convert string nan to float" bullshit
