Anyone playing around with OracleVM? Can't get the latest tech preview to recongize any network adapter. Will try a re-install in case I fucked up during the first time set up but anything will help.

Re-install didn't fix it.
Tried hyper v?

It's there in the settings, but it defaults to off, and since I have bad luck with activation phrases triggering themselves for silly reasons I've never tried it
With the browser switch from mozzillia to a chrome string, do you think browserdog will change?
[editline]26th January 2015[/editline]
It's still just unknown at best :T
I was under the assumption that the drivers would carry over from my Win8.1 install as everything else did, but apparently this wasn't the case for the ethernet driver. works fine now after installing it, thanks! should have thought of that to begin with :v:

also, monitor color profiles not yet properly implemented? I'm unable to apply my color profile
ICC colour profiles have been broken in windows for a long time. you need a third party application to enforce them
http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=386325
it's no wonder creative industry professionals don't use windows considering you can't do something as essential as applying a colour profile.

Anyway to bypass the region lock on cortana? I wan't to ask cortana silly questions.
Did you guys allready know about the method for installing windows, i posted on the previous page?
Felt so smart after doing it, but then felt stupid that i didn't know it before.

Does the preview work well for Surface Tablets?
If so I might put Win 10 on my Tablet.

After installing the latest tech preview on a VM I'm surprised it isn't called Windows 8.2 with how incremental the OS feels. I'm really unimpressed to be honest.

Windows operating systems operate on a very tick tock schedule. A major change is followed by a honing. Vista to 7, 8 to 10

However, going from 7 to 10 is a great change for me, having never really used an 8 OS device before.

A lot of features in 10 were actually gonna be in Windows 8.1 Update 2 iirc

Didn't Sataya come in by then though?
They really just said fuck it and made a 'from the cloud up' operating system that also puts the user back in the spotlight
that also puts the user back in the spotlight
That really sounds like those generic marketing babble they use in every video (Not even restricted to MS)
Things like
"We put the user back into the spotlight"
"Presenting a more natural way to consume your favourite content"
"A more enjoyable experience to use your PC"
"Gaming at your fingertips"
And then they show up with a new OS version that's main selling point is:
*Reverted start menu to look like the old one, but also have tiles in them!*
*Full screen Store apps are now windowed*
*Stream Microsoft™ Xbox One™ Games to your PC, rejoice PC gamers!*
And I'm not even gonna comment on cortana, because it will probably only be available for Switzerland in around 1 year after official Windows 10 Launch, just as they did with the release of the Xbox One.
To be completely honest, I'd be completely satisfied if they just released Windows 7 with all the low-end framework and kernel updates since then (improved memory management/hybrid sleep/multi-monitor etc). It's a shame that's just a pipe dream and instead we have to deal with Microsoft attempting to reinvent the wheel with modern schizophrenic mobile/desktop hybrid interfaces and gigantic solid colour icons.
so after i've fucked up windows 8.1 and lost its backup disc, i've decided to install windows 10
gotta say its more nicer than 8.1
[t]http://puu.sh/fbyWZ/d6ccccd769.jpg[/t]
sadly it eats lots of performance
[editline]29th January 2015[/editline]
also managed to turn on cortana, its so buggy

Probably not a good idea to run Windows 10 as your daily driver unless you are okay with Microsoft keylogging and activity tracking you. It's in the disclaimer and a major part of the beta phase.

Major part is bullshit
It's only affecting the on-screen keyboard, which is used among tablets to improve the auto-correct and suggestions.
It's only taking samples of the input, as well as samples of pen based input.

I really don't care about new "features". I just want them to continue improving the performance of the OS, which they are doing. Windows 10 feels less bloated than 7 and 8. There is still some way to go, to catch up with linux, but alot of it is backwards combability.

If you really wanna put on the tinfoil, how can we even know what the OS is and isn't monitoring?
What it says in the TOS and what it is actually doing could be different. I'm not saying it is, but unless windows becomes open source we can't know.
Edit button is broken for me atm, which is why i posted this as a new post.

You could put Apple in front of all those key points and you would never know the difference. :v:
I am glad they are allowing windowed Modern apps because there actually are a couple I do use on a regular basis. My secondary 1280 x 1024 monitor is pretty much exclusively used for outcoldplayer.

I only ever use mail and reader
It's doubtfull, but I hope that reader is updated to have multiple windows, like mail in Blue
Eh, I had to revert to 8.1 (btw thanks based MS for adding an option for this in the bootloader) due to a glitch (my WiFi was disabled in the network and couldn't be enabled again even though the wifi indicator was on and working so it wouldn't connect)

Do you realize how much data that would be if MS logged everything?
Even if it was everything entered into the on screen keyboard, all that data would be near useless without piles of extra data to provide context. They're not going to log all of that from everyone, that's far too much server space that they'd be wasting.
And even if they did I don't think MS is going to care if they look at yours and see a whole bunch of wsad input.
