So fluid to switch between windows. Stuff like that makes me miss using a mac because its just amazing for multitasking quickly.
Win+Tab does a thing like that now. I don't know how similar it is, but it's there
Win+Tab does a thing like that now. I don't know how similar it is, but it's there
Almost exactly the same, on my tablet I am able to trigger it with a swipe for the left (which used to only open the recent modern app). From there you just open it and aerosnap it to the side, and instantly select another window to open. Feels very fluid on the fingers
Wait, did they bring back the weird Aero Flip from Windows 7? I know Win+Tab brings up all your windows in a 3D view, and you can cycle through them if you keep pressing Tab. I thought they removed that functionality in Windows 8, though.
So what's he talking about with Win+Tab on Windows 10, then?
Its a shortcut to the Windows version of this. [t]http://www.windowstomac.net/wp-content/uploads/2011/06/Screen-shot-2011-06-22-at-17.04.14.png[/t] And desktops.
So what's he talking about with Win+Tab on Windows 10, then?
Windows 8 Win-Tab [t]http://5crat.ch/a/i86n[/t] Windows 10 [t]http://5crat.ch/a/cwaq[/t]
Windows 8 Win-Tab [t]http://5crat.ch/a/i86n[/t] Windows 10 [t]http://5crat.ch/a/cwaq[/t]
Oh. That's much nicer, and it does pretty much what Alt-Tab and Win-Tab did, but less flashy. I like it.
Oh. That's much nicer, and it does pretty much what Alt-Tab and Win-Tab did, but less flashy. I like it.
The only difference is that Win-Tab will pop open the virtual desktop Currently anyway
Well then W10 just keeps getting better and better
This was all in the first build tech preview build Where were you all?
This was all in the first build tech preview build Where were you all?
Probably at my house. Installing the first tech preview build.
This was all in the first build tech preview build Where were you all?
Virtual desktops and the Win+Tab task switcher were one of the first things I noticed. Habit from hitting Win+Tab to switch desktops in Gentoo carried over.

Kinda sad that they suck.
I like them a bit more. Seems to be more consistent than the old ones.
Kinda sad that they suck.
Better than the old ones, though.
Think a mouse wheel except instead of a wheel its a small ball [t]http://www.oneduasan.com/wp-content/uploads/2006/04/mightymouse0.jpg[/t]
We had these at college and they were nearly always broken. Tech ended up replacing them with generic PC mice.
I like them a bit more. Seems to be more consistent than the old ones.
Nah, they're garish, and they're inconsistent with Metro. Take a look at the control panel icon, for example: This is way too busy - this should basically just be cog wheel. Instead it's just a flattened image of the old icon. Kinda looks like a powerpoint file or something with a small pie diagram. The Desktop icon is also the old Vista one just flattened. They've already made a desktop metro icon that didn't suck, so why did they do this? I don't think these are final at all, Microsoft isn't that incompetent.

Familiar Icons flattened down to not clash as much with the modern UI Style I think.

I don't think these are final at all, Microsoft isn't that incompetent.
I don't agree about the control panel. The settings app is the main goto settings app for most people now, and that's where they want the vast majority of consumers to want to go for their settings, so that's a cog. Control panel is only going to be for power users, so they don't want it to look like something anyone else is going to want to click on, and they definitely don't want to make more confusion between it and settings. It should look nicer than that though. I think the desktop one is fine. It's pretty much just all the other ones that I don't like. The music/pictures/video icons just aren't very aesthetically pleasing. I'm sure they were just knocked out very fast to get people to stop complaining that they hadn't replaced the icons even though it's months and months away from the release, and they are going to redo them. At any rate, I still think it looks better than the old mess of 7 era icons. At least they're consistent and they fit in with the new design direction. They're like a bad version of metro, but at least they're sort of metro.
the new icons look like shit sorry to say [editline]6th February 2015[/editline] i mean yeah they're colourful than before but jesus they could use a lot more work and tweaking which im sure theyre doing
Yeah they just look like they were made in MSPaint.
Those icons look like they were made by someone in Microsoft Paint in an afternoon :suicide:
My search still doesn't work RIP.
And now we must only hope that someone releases a good icon pack to get rid of these...
These icons look like clip-art
Pretty sure they're temporary icons for the icon scheme that replaces the old one.
Pretty sure they're temporary icons for the icon scheme that replaces the old one.
They've never used temp icons before. Also, why would they waste the effort in creating all new icons only to wait to make another set of icons?
