You could. It's probably a bug.
EDIT: Because this makes no sense. Also somehow you cannot scale it vertical anymore.

I wish they'd let us use our Google accounts instead of the Microsoft account in Win10. I imagine Cortana would be a lot more useful if it was able to fetch its data from my Google account seeing as my phone is Android and my mail is gmail. if I had a Windows phone, it'd probably be different, but I don't so right now Cortana is incredibly useless. from what I can tell, pretty much all the functions that requires an account in Win10 are all Microsoft only with no thirdparty support. makes most of them useless as the only reason I have a Microsoft account to begin with is because I own an Xbox.
makes me wish I had a Windows Phone so I could have a more seamless integration between my desktop and my phone, but I've already gotten too established with Android. it'd be great if Microsoft opened up for it, but I doubt it seeing as it never happened with Win8.
i have a triple monitor setup. why, when i open the start menu, it pops up on the far left monitor even though i put my taskbar in the middle monitor? also, whenever i press the start button the entire taskbar shifts to the left monitor as well, even though i locked the taskbar on the middle monitor.

Probably a bug, it's pre-release software not even in Beta yet.

it works for me
Weird, I dunno why, but the start menu always opens on my main monitor no matter what.

It's based on the current active window's position and not where the cursor is at. If there are no windows open it'll just open at the last location of the last active window.
Ah, that would explain it then. Seems pretty dumb to not use cursor position.

wouldn't be surprised if someone mods cortana to fetch from google

Microsoft actually do try to incorporate google with their mail and calender etc applications, you can easily sign in on the mail without going through the technical IMAP.
Although they say that calender won't actually work because google haven't opened it up to allow them to sync between accounts, requiring it to be done manually

From memory you can actually use gmail and google calendar with WP. so I imagine come release it will be just fine in w10 as well. It's just that outlook/live calendar/onedrive utterly trash gmail/calendar/drive that it's not even funny.
The significantly more problematic issue is that google i starting to use proprietary protocols for syncing.

This is entirely because of Google. WP has had this issue forever and it's because Google actively blocks and denies deep google integration into WP's platform. They would do it to iOS too if it wasn't for the fact that iOS is popular and established enough that they can't afford to do that.
For example, did you know that Microsoft actually had a pretty well done and awesome YouTube app for Windows Phone, before Google came in and C&D'd it? Meanwhile Google has yet to put any of their services and apps on WP8 (not even YouTube) and refuses to support WP as a platform. The current "official" Youtube app is just a wrapper for the website (luckily the third party YT apps are IMO some of the best YT apps on any platform). The only features MS really has access to are stuff that google doesn't actively block because Google allows anyone can hook into these services - like MS being able to hook into the mail server, calendar, etc of Gmail to get gmail to your phone.
It might seem like MS wants everyone to only use their stuff (and I'm sure they do) but this was done only out of necessity - Google is honestly doing it way worse. They can get away with it better because they have platform dominance. MS would like everyone to use their services but they want people to have access to it from all platforms to get as many people supporting it as possible, and they want to have it there as an alternative to competition to potentially get people to become deeply integrated into MS's services and products. Google wants to be "iOS" - they have dominance and as such want to lock everyone into their platform if they can help it using that dominance. They want to make it so you can't leave google/android as a platform even if you wanted to try something else out. They don't pick fights with iOS because they are already deeply integrated with iOS as that platform grew in popularity before Android did and allowed a lot of people to get on board with google's services. If Google could have its way, the only thing you could use Google services on would be Android/Google platforms. It's really, really stupid, but they do this so they can try and force as many people to become "Android-ers" as possible and get forever locked into the android ecosystem.
The good news is that the only real google service I use other than google search itself is Gmail, so I'm not really missing out on much by being with Microsoft. I've been contemplating switching to outlook though since outlook support is more deeply integrated than Gmail support is.
You do realize a big reason there's no Chrome or Firefox on WP is because Microsoft doesn't allow any deep level integration for apps? At least not to the point the devs want.
I am really, really loving Office 365's Outlook integration, honestly. The interface is so much nicer than Gmail, and Microsoft doesn't serve you ads INSIDE YOUR EMAIL PANEL.
I'm not sure if Google's gotten more shameless the past few years, or if they've just always been this way and have found more insidious ways to exploit it.
Of those in here that have already tried Windows 10 - is it good enough to use on your main rig yet?
I'm updating my hardware and wanted to make a jump from Windows 7, I'll be using the computer mainly for gaming aswell as visual software such as Photoshop and Autodesk 3Ds Max.
Going through the couple last pages people mainly seem to have issues with smaller bugs and bad design choices in the User Interface - would it be wrong to use 10 yet?

If you jump to windows 10 now, there is a good chance you will need to revert back to seven or eight for the free upgrade
I think Gabe Aul, the guy who runs the inside program, tweeted that it's their goal to make it possible to go straight from technical preview to rtm, and you'll only need your install key from seven or eight to insert during the update.
Is it possible to buy a cheap Win7 key now and upgrade that to Win10 when it comes out?

Or use an interface that doesn't take a decade to load :v:
Or use an interface that doesn't take a decade to load :v:
Your Australian, your perception of loading times is slanted. It takes the better part of 2 seconds to load here (also helps if you use Chrome, FF can be a bit wonky on Google services).

It actually is your problem, since you're complaining about loading times on the browser you chose.

The problem is, that for none of those things, google keeps blocking, do you need deep integration. WP has a similar model to Ios as opposed to android where apps can run rampant to an extent.
The main issue is google actively blocking MS from using certain apis, using proprietary standards for correct synching and a lot of other stuff.
Also remember the time google kicked every non webkit based mobile browser into the curb?

Let's not forget the incident with the YouTube app, either.

It strikes me as more than coincidence that the Google browser is handling Google sites better than the non-Google browser.
Hrrm, Modern apps' icons don't wanna show up in my taskbar anymore.

There was a setting for it in eight, not sure of it still exists visibly. Of it's still existing, it might need a registry hack to fix
