But metro was such a good name
It's not called Metro anymore Stop living in the past
what IS it called now, anyway? Modern UI?
metro apps are gonna be able to change the look of their title bar. Vlc, for example, is gonna embrace it and the result is nice: [t]http://blog.thomasnigro.fr/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/universalw10.png[/t]
Holy shit that looks nice, certainly better than the stock UI I use now. [t]http://i.imgur.com/2ElpAC2.png[/t] I just hope it is just as functional as the version I use now.

Metro apps just don't have access to enough of the same apis. They can't even access dvds/cds.
what IS it called now, anyway? Modern UI?
MDL as far as I know
MDL as far as I know
It's Modern, metro was the codename, similar to Durango and Viridian (Xbone and Hyper-V) Search for MDL brings up this and warez https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff554414(v=vs.85).aspx
Looked it up, it's called the "microsoft design language" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metro_%28design_language%29#Name_change
It's Modern, metro was the codename, similar to Durango and Viridian (Xbone and Hyper-V) Search for MDL brings up this and warez https://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/hardware/ff554414(v=vs.85).aspx
MDL = [del]metro[/del]microsoft design language
Or we could just keep calling it Metro, because it sounds cooler than Microsoft Design Language, isn't as soulless as an acronym, and doesn't take nearly as long to type as the full name.
Looked it up, it's called the "microsoft design language" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metro_%28design_language%29#Name_change
Thanks bing In unrelated news, I noticed Unicode 7 is implemented into 10 🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕🖕
It was called metro but someone sued Microsoft over using that name so they changed it
It was called metro but someone sued Microsoft over using that name so they changed it
I remember that That was only a rumour, can't find any confirmation still
Using Windows 10 the one thing that annoys me most is the huge title bars on applications, I really wish they were smaller. They've made the other 3 borders smaller, and that bigger, it makes little sense to me.

Having borderless windows doesn't impact touch usability. Makes sense, though I suppose an option would be nice.
People using touch need to access those buttons. Having borderless windows doesn't impact touch usability. Can't you still change the title bar size in "Advanced appearance options" or whatever they're calling the old school appearance dialog? It's been a thing since Win95 at least, I can't imagine they would have gotten rid of it

Holy hell, I went to mess around with the laptop I installed Windows 10 on and it was at 100% CPU usage the whole time. I could barely open the start menu. Is this a known problem or is my little lappy too weak for windows 10?

Actually made my tablet too hot to touch
Anyone else receive a new update just now?

I still call it metro, the new name has no ring to it
Anyone else receive a new update just now?
Updates went out in preparation for the next build.
So far I'm liking Windows 10. I enjoy the ability to toggle between a full start menu and one that throws back to previous iterations of Windows. Things are quite snappy too; I'm experiencing zero issues with compatibility.
does it matter? I still call it metro, the new name has no ring to it
De facto it's still metro so w/e it doesn't really matter [editline]21st February 2015[/editline] So, my friend had issues running Origin on Win8 before I helped him get back to Win7, where it works fine. Could anyone install it and see if it works on 10? I've got a few games on there I like to play every now and then.

I haven't been really paying any attention to W10 so excuse my ignorance. What are the advantages compared to W8.1? Is an upgrade to be even considered in the coming years, or can I wait a little bit longer?

Apart from that, they're closing the gap between the desktop and the modern interface, making it more usable for both tablet and pc users to feel comfortable with, unlike previously
