So apparently I can't connect to my work's wifi with W10 since you can't put spaces in network passwords on it. So far I've been very unimpressed with the network management of W10, seems like a major step back.
that's weird as hell, at the core it should still be roughly the same network stack as win7 or win8
did they implement a new UI for wireless connections? I'm ethernet, I can't check

It's forced into the settings application currently, instead of a flyout in win8, and a popup in seven
Is the crashing with VAC games fixed yet?

Build hasn't changed yet
They are aware of the issue says Gabe
I'm on build 9926 and haven't had any issues with VAC games crashing, namely CS:GO. Am I lucky??

Yeah new UI, and so many of the advanced settings are hidden away. Granted I've never tried putting a password in with spaces in any other version of Windows. Works in Ubuntu, though.

Hey guys,
I haven't been following Windows 10 development. Is there a release date announced yet?

There was a rumor that it'd RTM in June, but rumors are rumors. The best reliable date you can get is "H2 of 2015".
Bought an Acer laptop yesterday so I'm hoping this Windows 10 update when they release it towards the end of the year removes all this Acer branding and shit

You'd have to remove the Acer crap your self even with the update, unless you plan to do a manual reinstall.

I've removed all bloat ware, there's just branding on the startup screen that I can't seem to get rid of

You mean the bios splash screen?
You mean the bios splash screen?
That doesn't bother me but I'm speaking about, when I boot up the computer it says "Acer - their slogan or w/e" and the Windows 8 loading animation
it normally is the blue windows logo not that
It's probably burned into the UEFI somewhere, and Win8 is just pulling it from there.
It's also likely that Win10 will do the same shit

My computer does this with the Asus logo, it's the UEFI, as posted.
I'm still looking for Mylogo for the Z87, it's been like two years

does the same for my MSI motherboard. it'll display the BIOS splashscreen along with the Windows loading circle.
pretty easy to get rid of if it annoys you, just disable the splashscreen in the BIOS. of course there has to be an option to do that, but fairly sure most mobos have that. mine is called something along "Disable fullscreen boot screen". when that's done, it'll most likely just show a regular black screen with low res text displaying your drives and various other misc info, and Windows will show its default blue logo when booting.
Glad to hear that the search is being re-integrated with the Start menu: http://www.neowin.net/news/windows-10-search-functionality-updated-in-upcoming-builds

I thought they said it'd be around December of 2015?

The more important thing people will flip out about is the Recycle Bin icon. Literally a repeat of Whistler.

Don't they store the old icons as well so you can just change it.

A few of them can and sometimes do work if you go through SHELL32, but some won't or Windows will use an Aero version when it looks like a 9x/XP version in the picker.
Microsoft really should go through and make complete SHELL32s from older versions of Windows available as a free download so if you wanted the 2000/ME icon set, you could have it.

uh no? if you flip out over icons which you can change with minimal tweaking then you've got a serious issue

Does this not describe your average user? They will and have completely flipped out over things that can be changed extremely easily.

Most people at school flipped out over the new style OSX introduced with Yosemite :v:
I think it's a visual improvement in all respects
Has anyone encountered an issue where the Start menu would not open up (by clicking or Windows key)? This is a fresh install from scratch, just this afternoon.
(It also seems like certain settings/apps don't want to open as well. Maybe a permission issue?)

I kinda like the design improvements in Yosemite. But then again, I am really flexible when it comes to change.
I also adapted to Windows 8's way of interaction really quick.
I can't really understand how people are getting so worked up over some simple design changes.
Anyone installed the preview on an SSD? Is windows still created a fuck huge pagefile that take around 10% of the ssd's capacity?
