If spartan has good addon support, I feel I might migrate there, that's the only thing stopping me from going to IE tbh
If you're like me and the 10041 update just isn't popping up for you, there's a solution: http://pureinfotech.com/2015/03/20/windows-10-build-10041-create-iso-file-using-esd-image/

I still can't take this seriously :v:
Bloatware in Refresh/Reset is dead:
http://blogs.windows.com/bloggingwin...act-footprint/
We are also redesigning Windows’ Refresh and Reset functionalities to no longer use a separate recovery image (often preinstalled by manufacturers today) in order to bring Windows devices back to a pristine state. This reduces Windows’ storage footprint further as the recovery image on typical devices can range in size from 4GB to 12GB, depending on the make and model. Phones already have a storage-optimized recovery solution, so, unlike compression, this enhancement is only for tablets, laptops, and desktops.
I'm going to have to disagree with you there. Meego was a terrible UX on every platform.
I had a netbook that ran it. Was awful.

Valve releasing one of the sessions for those promotional videos would be so damn awesome.
So guys I completely stopped following windows development after 8 because I didn't like the new UI at all, the change from 7 was too much for me.
How much better is windows 10 in that? Has it become usable in a "desktop only" mode?

It's basically Windows 7 with squares in the start menu. Eat your heart out.

Absolutely.
I'm on Windows 7 right now because I lost my license key for 8, but I'll probably upgrade to 10 the day it comes out.
I've got like five copies of 7 Ultimate and Professional sitting around my house, though. We bought them for certain university programs, but those classes are long over. Maybe I can find a use for that down the road.

That seems like something microsoft it trying to push

Actually, I should probably start throwing those licenses on my spare computers so I can upgrade them to Windows 10 keys during the first year. I've been meaning to bootcamp my laptop, now I have a reason.
Also, I want to eventually convert this old Apple Cube into an HTPC, so maybe I can use one there.
So,
I no longer care about what you call them

It'll probably change next year.
i still call them metro apps v:v:v
I just call them WinRT apps like you would for your regular Win32 apps, and like one would for WinFX apps if Longhorn didn't get bombed.
the whole thing is fucking bullshit
they're all applications or programs, you don't say "Qt apps" or "GDI+ apps" unless the UI toolkit is actually relevant to the context, why is this UI toolkit different

This. They're just fucking programs. Or "apps" if you will.

Because it's not just the UI toolkit that changes. Subset of Win32 is an important distinction, it's not a very big subset.

Also they are packaged differently and can only be installed from the store unless you have special certificates installed

There are some indications that the side loading situation is going to change with Windows 10, though this may only be on the Enterprise side unfortunately.
I'm a bit weird. I call them apps on my phone and programs on my PC, and this is most likely because of Apple and the first iPhone.
Apple really did well selling the whole 'apps' thing.

Unfortunately
I still call them programs. App sounds childish.
