I call them Apps on my phone and programs on my desktop, because that's what everyone else has called them for thirty years.
I call them all apps because it's short for application and that's what they are
The term is used to distinguish such software from another type of computer program referred to as system software, which manages and integrates a computer's capabilities but does not directly perform tasks that benefit the user. The system software serves the application, which in turn serves the user.
as far as I'm concerned they're synonyms, and I tend to use synonyms interchangeably

Try unplugging everything from your computer except one screen when you run the installer. Even the mouse and keyboard (after you've started the installation of course) I've heard stories of even mice causing the install process to crash.
Everyone run Windows update. Spartan just went live.

Also, anyone else noticed the

Spartan is great!

Spartan is instructed to report a Chrome useragent so sites don't think "oh shit, IE user! Load the stripped down version".
My W10 won't update at all. Guess I'll just do a fresh install, I think I've used it twice on my laptop since I installed xubuntu, but I really want to try out spartan. I sincerely want it to be great.

This'll probs change though when sites pick up on it's useragent properly. Speaking of which, what would it call itself - project spartan is only a codename right?
Spartan is instructed to report a Chrome useragent so sites don't think "oh shit, IE user! Load the stripped down version".
IE11/10/9 already do something similar. They ignore the HTML "IF IE" statements.
Rather annoying as you have to use Javascript to detect the browser as well now.

They changed the interface for the battery notification

So basically, continuing the tradition behind all user agents.
http://webaim.org/blog/user-agent-string-history/
if I ever write a rendering engine (IE Linux doesn't count, as its a port), I'm just going to make this my useragent:
LavacanosBrowser 9999 on Linux amd64
With 9999 being a single integer that only ever goes up, so developers can just do "versionnum >= 9999". And then I'm going to provide a button that changes the useragent to this:
LavacanosBrowser 9999 on Linux amd64 (the following is provided for websites expecting insane useragents: Mozilla; Gecko; WebKit; KHTML; )
