For those who want to use my beautiful mistake themselves, download this file http://www.glass8.eu/files/SetWindowCompositionAttribute.7z then in cmd, change to the directory where the extracted .exe is and run this: SetWindowCompositionAttribute.exe class Shell_TrayWnd accent 3 0 0 0 The only reason I figured this out is because 10061 won't make my taskbar/startmenu/etc anything other than black. The completely transparent bar is very unstable though, and will eventually revert, one way or another.
I get a 403 page, i THink in polish
I get a 403 page, i THink in polish
Same, but I'm pretty sure it's Czech v:v:v
Same, but I'm pretty sure it's Czech v:v:v
You know more about Europe than I I'm more knowledgable in SEA :j
[t]http://www.winbeta.org/sites/default/files/styles/watermark/public/news/blur.jpg?itok=j9k8LaTh[/t] neat. also:
Are they actually adding aero blur back in?
It looks a lot like the Mac OS blur style. I do hope so though, it looks nice.
That ask me anything box. Please tell me it can be turned off...
Are they actually adding aero blur back in?
yep essentially. It's pretty much the top requested feature. [editline]28th April 2015[/editline]
That ask me anything box. Please tell me it can be turned off...
it can, easily
yep essentially. It's pretty much the top requested feature. [editline]28th April 2015[/editline] it can, easily
That's awesome, didn't know if they were using glass 8 or something. Now they just need a decent vs and decent icons.
Looks like it. It makes a lot of sense, and I really like the way that looks. Reminds me of the old "Windows of the future" concept art they did back in 2009-2010.
this video has the blur in action
Oh, I was hoping the blur would be on the windows too. Oh well, I'm sure someone will figure it out.
When did Microsoft get this tasteful?
circa 2012
this video has the blur in action
Oh hey, a newer sound scheme too.
Oh hey, a newer sound scheme too.
Yeah, I dunno if I like it that much though. All the sounds are really samey, and are pretty hard to distinguish. They're also a bit muddy, but that might just be because they're unfinished, so they haven't been properly mastered yet. The Windows Phone sound scheme is much better imo.
Do we have a build 2k15 thread? Should I just make one if not? http://www.buildwindows.com/ Keynote in an hour
Do we have a build 2k15 thread? Should I just make one if not? http://www.buildwindows.com/ Keynote in an hour
Usually Build discussions just continue in the Windows and Windows Phone thread since that's what they're going to talk about anyway.
Usually Build discussions just continue in the Windows and Windows Phone thread since that's what they're going to talk about anyway.
Do we even have a windows desktop general?
I think it's always just been the Windows X thread.
So apparently Win32 apps will now be available in the Store, which is honestly pretty nice. As long as you can get them on the internet as well, I think that's a logical addition really.
Seems like the scroll bar in the start menu is gone: [thumb]http://d35lb3dl296zwu.cloudfront.net/uploads/photo/image/19997/DSC_1389.jpg[/thumb] Or does it vanish when not used?
Yeah, this is going really well. They've put together a really compelling platform. That little suggested app thing is a bit concerning though. I don't want to be advertised at on my start menu. It's like the beginning of how the Xbox 360 home screen ended up, I hope they don't take this any further. Maybe I'm being paranoid. [editline]29th April 2015[/editline] Oh shit and they're going to advertise apps at you through the lock screen this is concerning. Oh I suppose it's fine it's optional. Most people are just gonna go for photos. I did like the nice photos coming up at random though, I just want that without ads.

What will happen to Inori Aizawa now? [t]http://static.giantbomb.com/uploads/original/3/33880/2568119-inori_zirong_touch_the_web.jpg[/t]
Edgy [editline]29th April 2015[/editline] Spartan seems like a better name tbh like Kinect was originally Natal
Spartan also has the connotation "stripped" down which would at least be fitting in the sense of throwing away legacy stuff (not so much with extension support). Apparently extensions will be really easily portable from Chrome.
In general Continuum is a really neat idea. Edit: Wow [thumb]http://d35lb3dl296zwu.cloudfront.net/uploads/photo/image/20028/DSC_1700.jpg[/thumb] [thumb]http://d35lb3dl296zwu.cloudfront.net/uploads/photo/image/20030/DSC_1712.jpg[/thumb] The idea of universal apps makes even more sense now.
Holy shit this is nuts. You can plug a phone into a screen, keyboard and mouse and it's actually solid. edit:ninja'd [editline]29th April 2015[/editline] Surely the phones that can do this are gonna need some serious power. He did say there aren't any current models that can do it. Don't get your hopes up if you've already got a Windows Phone. You'll need a new device for it.
make the dumb black bar pop up when you hit the windows logo then you've got one amazing tablet
I'm pretty sure you're gonna be able to set it to hide/show when you swipe from the bottom. Certainly in one of the preview builds, you could do this with the taskbar, dunno if it's still like that. It's just like the nav bar on WP combined with the status bar. I think it's a pretty clever way of doing it really, because you've got that functionality in a way that's familiar because it's just like the taskbar.
If porting android and iOS apps goes smoothly, and I use my phone as a desktop I would actually buy a Windows phone. I never thought I would say that.
