Build 10130 broke too many things :( I was really excited about the newer icons and the overall extra layer of finish but my audio drivers don't work, the Start Menu doesn't open, and most games BSOD within 20-30 minutes of playing. Even a rollback to 10122 didn't fix things, so I'm guessing I'm going to need a fresh install of something.
So after the latest update taking a dump on itself mid-update and boot looping my laptop, I have gone to do a fresh install of 10 (build 10074). After trying about 4 different USB sticks, one stick always fails to validate the product key, and the others have all failed at some point after fully copying the Windows install files. (Latest error is c0000005) Anyone have any tips?
Replying to my own issue, but thought it was worth noting that I solved the problem by installing via DVD rather than USB. Which is strange, since it is how I initially installed Win10, but hey, technology is just magic.
Anybody used the new people app? It's shockingly quick and stable for me. It starts in under half a second. I hope they get all the other apps to this level of zippiness.
Most of the game issues I'm having revolve around the games not being able to connect to steam. Something with the DLLs is broken or something, they all refuse to launch because of it.

I reported this in feedback already but deleting a contact from the Web interface did not remove it from the local device
I just got this pop up in my system tray on Windows 7. [t]http://i60.tinypic.com/2q3994p.jpg[/t] Does anyone know if it replaces your Windows 7 key? And will I be able to install it on a different drive, or will it install over my Windows 7 install? The learn more link humorously points to a 404.
Anyone get a "Get Windows 10" icon in the bottom right corner? i reserved my upgrade.

I am also curious as to how Microsoft is going to handle the activation key issue. I'd rather not be forced to do an upgrade because a million things can go wrong and something usually does. I would instead prefer to do a clean install of Windows 10 and just simply activate it with my Windows 7 key. Once activated it should convert it to a Windows 10 license instead. In the end I'd rather just buy Windows 10 as opposed to dealing with the hassle of upgrading from Windows 7 directly.
I have not received this yet. Wow my spelling is awful today.
Woke up my pc this morning
I want to reserve, but I'm planning on getting a new PC soon and I won't be using my current Laptop that much after words. If I reserve, does this mean I can reserve it for the new PC I'll be getting or is it just for the device I'm using currently?
I got it on my desktop, but nothing for my Surface yet.
I got the popup too, should I reserve it?
I got the popup too, should I reserve it?
i'm not sure even what "reserving" means in this case are they estimating server/bandwidth usage or something
i'm not sure even what "reserving" means in this case are they estimating server/bandwidth usage or something
I'd imagine the popup will come back later and say "Ready to Upgrade?"
It might automatically download in the background then it'll let you know its time to go.
I'd imagine the popup will come back later and say "Ready to Upgrade?"
but later is like 2 months from now i can't see the purpose of "reserving" so early

So if you've got one on a laptop, one on a desktop, and one on a tablet, you can upgrade all of them.
but later is like 2 months from now i can't see the purpose of "reserving" so early
This is just advertising really. Theyre trying to get people who hadn't thought about windows 10 before to think about it nice and early. They're calling it reserving because that's much simpler for people who don't really get technology to understand than "click here and in a few months your license key will be upgraded, there's no rush, we're just advertising at you"
How am I gonna reserve my upgrade on my laptop which is already running the technical preview?
How am I gonna reserve my upgrade on my laptop which is already running the technical preview?
You have a whole year though, don't kick yourself over it
You have a whole year though, don't kick yourself over it
I know, I mean like am I gonna have to reinstall 8.1 to upgrade it or something?
I know, I mean like am I gonna have to reinstall 8.1 to upgrade it or something?
Gabe Aul tweeted about it a while back, it's gonna be a straight upgrade from the tp to rtm for free.

For the record, you can in fact put spaces in wifi passwords now. I finally got off my lazy ass and booted to my windows partition to test it.
i have not received the notification yet
i have not received the notification yet
I had to encourage the updates in Windows Update then restart to get it
If you had a valid licence, it should work
Nah iirc, they said everyone on the preview will get it, so you don't need a license.
