If I install the tech preview now and then windows 10 comes out will I be able to upgrade directly? I have seen other people ask the question but haven't seen any responses. Or will I have to completely re-install again.
Yes, most likely you have an OEM version of Windows (license key is bound to motherboard, comes with pre-made PCs usually) or you have an incompatible driver or something. But most likely the first.
I've been using OEM keys since I started, and I got the popup.
Being OEM is the only reason I can think of that makes me uneligble for the update D:
Why would that be a problem? It should work regardless, unless it's non-genuine
Why would that be a problem? It should work regardless, unless it's non-genuine
The files are in C:\Windows\System32\GWX but running GWX.exe does nothing, my windows is 100% genuine and so I'm told by the windows genuine checker tool (or whatever it's called) I'd post a screenshot but im currently on my phone I figured I'd try update to Windows 8.1 but the update tool told me I'd have to do a full clean install due to some compatability issues with apps, im not sure if this can be related to it in any way
Is it possible to get rid of the quick access stuff? It makes everything look so cluttered. Like when I right click on the file directory and it has permanently pinned stuff and also frequently accessed stuff.
If it's OEM you're gonna have to ask your OEM provider.
I found a fix shortly after, thanks anyways though :) (Read my above post for the fix if anyone needs it)
Windows 10 has been crashing ever 10 minutes on my laptop displaying the blue screen stating Driver Power State Failure. It never did this before this build.

[editline]13th June 2015[/editline] from my past experiences installing operating systems via usb i havent been successful, however my laptop usually refuses to install new operating systems and reverts to the previously installed one.

[t]http://i.imgur.com/JSwgzoS.png[/t] whoops the fact that all uwp apps crash if dwm dies is bullshit, what is this, mac os 9?
[t]http://i.imgur.com/JSwgzoS.png[/t] whoops the fact that all uwp apps crash if dwm dies is bullshit, what is this, mac os 9?
DWM in 8+ does a lot more than it did in 7, which is why it's now always on.
Hey guys I have a tablet PC with a keyboard dock, it's on W8 right now and I wanted to try W10 on it to get rid of the recovery partition and all the Acer crap. Will the keyboard be recognized by W10 ? I know it doesn't work natively on linux, but grub does recognize it
If it works in 8, it's probably fine on 10.
Are they trying to tell me something?
DWM in 8+ does a lot more than it did in 7, which is why it's now always on.
True, but it shouldn't bring down all of UWP apps down with it completely and leave the system crippled to the point where the only way to reboot it short of a hard reset is to do shutdown.exe -r
True, but it shouldn't bring down all of UWP apps down with it completely and leave the system crippled to the point where the only way to reboot it short of a hard reset is to do shutdown.exe -r
It normally shouldn't crash in the place. You have to try really hard for it to crash in 8.
I installed a sketching app thing from the Windows store on my Thinkpad x220t, played around with it for a bit, and then I left for a couple of hours. When I got back, I tried to log back into my account and got an error that said "A critical error has occurred in the Shell Infrastructure Host. Start Menu, Cortana, and some apps may not be available. Please save your work and sign-out to recover." I tried rebooting twice and it didn't seem to fix it, anyone know the issue?
And what about win10 privacy fuckups? Will MS stop cocksucking the NSA?
Alright- if I install the tech preview on my Laptop and do a clean install, how fucked am I going to get because I dont know my current Win7 key. I figure theres got to be a way to simply copy it down and reuse, right?

So, Xbox E3 is tomorrow. How much Win10 milking will we see?
And what about win10 privacy fuckups? Will MS stop cocksucking the NSA?
Kind of hard to do that when the NSA is holding your head to their cock and hitting you with a cattle prod if you try to resist.
It normally shouldn't crash in the place. You have to try really hard for it to crash in 8.
Or use a custom theme, that'll bring down DWM really quick, which is the sole reason I stopped customizing Windows.
Just use produkey from hirens to grab your key before you do a fresh install.
Hitting that install button then.
Does Windows 10 have FMOD support now?
