Is the Netflix app updated at all. If was really the only metro app I still use
Is the Netflix app updated at all. If was really the only metro app I still use
not atm, it's still the windows 8 app, so it runs with legacy functions it's still usable it just sucks not being able to have it in a window mode ofc these apps will update overtime but rn it's still in it's old windows 8 behaviour
I really hate the new Mail Client. The one on Win8 was great. Might have to go back using my browser for mail.
Are you kidding me? The mail app for W8 was the most useless piece of crap I've ever had the displeasure of working with.
Two questions: 1. Is it worth upgrading from Windows 8 to Windows 10? Or should I hold off? 2. Is Cortana as good as Microsoft paints her (voice recognition and all)?
i installed windows 10 on my macbook, so to whoever was wondering how that worked - it runs perfectly once boot camp for windows is installed microsoft was supposedly trying to bring windows trackpad support into the 21st century but at the moment win10 doesn't even come close to os x's trackpad support, which is pretty disappointing
Microsoft doesn't make drivers for the Macbook trackpad though? Are you talking about Microsoft Precision Touchpads (like the one on the Dell XPS 13)? [editline]23rd June 2015[/editline]
Are you kidding me? The mail app for W8 was the most useless piece of crap I've ever had the displeasure of working with.
The Win 8 mail app was fine imo, but I want what he's smoking if he think it was actually better (or just "not worse").
Seems to be blurred for me, build 10130.
We talked about this ages ago it's a registry entry

Windows 10 isn't out yet so we can't answer that, if you're wondering if you should upgrade rn and try insiders then go for it. I think it's good but it's experimental as fuck right now 2. It's pretty good but to me it lacks a lot of features due to it still being in development

It's honestly a joke.
We talked about this ages ago it's a registry entry
A registry edit to enable the blur? Doesn't seem to be the case anymore considering I've not touched that sort of stuff at all.

I noticed this when watching some shows on Netflix the other day on my tablet and the screen would time making me have to rebuffer the stream. Really annoying. I know its probably because its still a legacy app, but I was curious.
A registry edit to enable the blur? Doesn't seem to be the case anymore considering I've not touched that sort of stuff at all.
They give some people the blur and others the basic transparency to see which is more well received.
Totally forgot about this Time to vote for anthromorphics [t]https://akari.in/vqaJ[/t] -Touko (Japanese) -Anne (French) -Neon (Greek) -Sora (More Japanese) -Other The hardest question is why I care at all [editline]24th June 2015[/editline]
A registry edit to enable the blur?
For my old position I had to help people set up email on mail programs all day every day and that was by far the program most absolutely devoid of any features or settings. I understand that it wouldn't be suitable for anyone with higher requirements, though.
Are you kidding me? The mail app for W8 was the most useless piece of crap I've ever had the displeasure of working with.
Well the 10 app is even worse.
Gah, Just remembered I need to do the daunting task of both switching to my ssd before school term. I've always gone against using the tech preview as the daily driver, but do you think they're even going to do a consumer preview, or is that what the insider preview is now? What do people think? Is it worth the hassle now? It would require me to install 8.x again onto my ssd anyway most likely, just to authenticate windows. I'm still not convinced about "Insiders will get 10 for free!" I already have a proper version, and rather not skip a step based on the chance that a message that's very distorted
Sorry if this is the wrong place to ask, but I can't seem to find the "Reserve your Windows 10" icon on my tray. Am I not eligible for Windows 10? How do I check? [t]http://i.imgur.com/kYK2QHkl.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/U41YAly.png[/t] I do have KB3035583 listed in Installed Updates. I have the GWX folder in Windows/system32.
2. Is Cortana as good as Microsoft paints her (voice recognition and all)?
For me, her actual word recognition isn't perfect, but when she forwards the search to Bing it's close enough that I get what I wanted anyway. The example I usually use for this is "Lacuna Coil" (luh-KOO-nuh COY-ul), because well, what else would I default to :v: Sometimes even with full English phrases it goofs a bit (I might say "pancakes" and get "panned cakes"). Maybe I just have a shit mic though.
I'm a little late to the party, but windows 10 is blowing 7 out of the water for me, in terms of performance. All my games run better, everything loads faster. It's just a huge step up from me. And I can't wait for release when I get the full copy, when almost all the bugs are worked out. [editline]23rd June 2015[/editline] The only problem I have is that GTA is now shitting the bed. It runs for 5-20 minutes then gives me a d3d error, something I didn't have before I upgraded.
Is the latest build stable enough to use until the retail comes out?
Is the latest build stable enough to use until the retail comes out?
I've used Windows 10 on and off since the insider program begun without too many problems. this last build I've used for over a month as my daily driver without having experienced any issues, so I believe it's safe to use until retail release
That will be in as long as you're using the technical preview. There are a bunch of things for cortana, and things along the lines of location tracking, advertising ID. All of that can be disabled if you don't want to use it, but most of it is opt-out.
Alright cool, cause I got a copy of the insider preview the other day. Haven't really gotten around to playing with it.
I upgraded from 7 directly so my copy should remain genuine, otherwise i'm going to actually sue microsoft.
Start menu refuses to open, help!
I upgraded from 7 directly so my copy should remain genuine, otherwise i'm going to actually sue microsoft.
Try reinstalling 7 then upgrading that way first. By the time Win10 releases your install will probably have gathered enough cruft that you need a reinstall anyway.
Start menu refuses to open, help!
Have you restarted? I had that problem and it needed a few restarts to fix it
By the time Win10 releases your install will probably have gathered enough cruft that you need a reinstall anyway.
How do you manage that? I don't remember needing to do an OS reinstall since the XP days when I was stupid and broke things/caused slowdowns.
How do you manage that? I don't remember needing to do an OS reinstall since the XP days when I was stupid and broke things/caused slowdowns.
Windows has just been like that for me for my entire life, including every single time when I haven't even done anything weird to it. Installing/uninstalling things, general use... I mean yeah sure in theory I probably could use the same Windows install from 2010 but after a while it'd just get really painful with being slow and clunky. Also, older installs tend to generate more bizarre errors in my experience. Normally, it takes a fair bit longer for a Windows install to get that crufty but these are the previews, and MS did push out some crap builds, especially in the fast lane (which is the point of the fast lane but still). [editline]24th June 2015[/editline] Chances are the problems I develop can actually be fixed without reinstalling, but since Windows isn't good about giving me specific details like Linux is I can't exactly manage that
Did any of you launch the Windows 10 Technical Preview from inside Windows 8 (opening up the .iso and launching Setup.exe)? If so, did it move any files in your media libraries? Did it preserve Wi-Fi security keys and your account information? I'm currently writing a guide for Windows 10 (with some deadlines since I'm going on vacation this Saturday), so if any of you guys have the answer that would be really helpful. Of course I could fire up a Windows 8 VM, add some dummy files and then check myself, but that's gonna take some time I don't really have right now - help much appreciated.
