I finally got around to putting the preview on a VM so I can get used to it before the full release. I gotta say I really like it.
When do you guys think Edge will get extension support? Edge is so good, I'd use it as my primary browser if it weren't for the lack of such an important feature.

I have a Dell laptop and have yet to receive the Windows upgrade notification/reservation. Does anyone know if it is actually eligible for the upgrade? Everything I've seen seems to suggest it would be as it's just running the standard Windows 8.1 (as far as I can tell) but it seems odd I haven't had the notification yet.Not sure if I'm missing something obvious.

I decided to go balls deep and put the preview on my laptop. Haven't used it much since class let out for Summer and I've been getting fed up with the assload of Asus bloat. It's installing now so I guess I'll report back when she's done.
http://www.dell.com/support/home/us/en/04 Go there, enter the sevice tag (should be on the bottom) or find the model manually. you can find the drivers there. You may need to search for the HardwareID on Google to find out which is which.
I tried this earlier, but this time I downloaded the CAB file, extracted it and told windows to look in there. Turns out that they're all "Intel® Dynamic Platform and Thermal Framework Generic Participant Driver" things. Weird, you'd expect Windows Update to find the drivers for these. It seems to have an effect my touchpad as well. Before installing drivers from CAB it showed up as PS/2 mouse from microsoft. After installing drivers it shows up as "Dell touchpad" [editline]11th July 2015[/editline]
This worked for me. http://superuser.com/questions/821517/windows-10-technical-preview-synaptics-scrolling
Sadly, the touchpad is still fucked, despite that registry edit and the drivers from the CAB. Now trying that v16 version of synaptics. The link in the superuser answer is down, but with Google I found it somewhere else. edit: The v16 drivers didn't install at first, but the install did work after rebooting my laptop. This version of the driver doesn't seem to have an option "disable when other mouse is present", but at least there's a button to disable the damn thing. There's even this gesture with which I can re-enable the touchpad by sliding my finger over it in a certain way. Thanks for the help!
[t]http://i.imgur.com/Fk361c6.png[/t] Well fuck.
was windows 7 like 10 is now in the weeks before release? lots of bugs and features that are either not working properly or missing entirely? it seems kind of crazy to me that such a high profile piece of software has so many problems with only a little over two weeks left until release.
Got 10 working, this is honestly one of the most beautiful operating systems I've used. Task manager says it's using 100% CPU, though. Resource monitor says it's using infinite CPU. But the program monitor in the task manager shows things properly at 1-2% CPU usage. That's a bug, right?
Had that bullshit with Phone Companion app breaking my start screen, finally was able to get that unpinned and now this OS is completely fucking awesome on my Stream 7.
I kept the Australis styling on my tabs, but made them square again and moved them back to the bottom of the user chrome where they fucking belong. Then made everything else the same layout I'd been used to for years.
Well I got 10 installed on my laptop and everything is running great on build 10162. Put myself in the fast ring and it's about ready to install 10166. The only problem I've had so far is the audio output doesn't switch automagically when I plug in or unplug headphones, which is something I can live with until MS/VIA fixes their shit.
Well I'm waiting for the official release. My win 7 is still running very stable on a almost 3 year install. Guess I'm lucky?

Using 7 after using 8/8.1 for so long it just feels so old and clunky.
I really hope they remove the rounded tabs.
I can see why people like it but in order to please both crowds they should make it optional. It seems to clash with how square Windows 10 is.
Is there anyway to make the start menu skinnier than this? I'd like it to collapse more.
What I did was remove them all from the menu then click and drag the edge back to the start menu.

Mine snaps into groups of 3 just fine on 10162. His seems to be stuck at 4, though.
Went ahead and decided to upgrade my laptop to the Preview but for some reason it got stuck while installing the update. It's been at a little bit above 1/4 of the progress bar, but it has been installing the update for atleast 50 minutes. Why is this taking so damn long? Edit: Alright, atleast it is now actually writing things to my disk, so it might start picking up the pace again. Hopefully. Can't wait to toy around with Cortana.
And now we're on 10166. Seems just as stable as 10162, but I've only been here five minutes.

How does one get one of those free insider CD keys? I'd like to have an extra Windows 10 key for my second PC.
