Found a USB Ethernet adapter in my house, so I can finally upgrade the tablet properly
But for some reason, it's now actually fully locked into a TH1 branch, and can't get out of it as changes are not applied, was on fbl_impressive only two days ago
shit.
It's intentional. They've also pulled 10166 and 10162, the next build will be through production channels apparently, and presumably a th1 build.

May not activate, apparently the prerelease keys won't activate new installs.

It's activated
So sad... I tried installing the preview on my older laptop, which originally had vista on it, and looks like I'm going back to 7 for it. Just idling in 10, it's always using up at least 50% of the cpu, 45% ram, and 99% of the disk.
but why
I like the new start menu but, I find it easier to navigate with the old start menu.
Is anybody else on 10162 getting explorer.exe continuously crashing?
startisback++ seems to be stable enough so far.

Why was the part that didn't need to be changed made to look like Windows 7? Looks gross.
Why was the part that didn't need to be changed made to look like Windows 7? Looks gross.
It's customizable and, it's in beta.
Is anybody else on 10162 getting explorer.exe continuously crashing?
Yes. It crashes when I try to install some programs. Sometimes I double click an installer, have explorer freeze and I start doing something else. I forget about explorer completely when I suddenly find UAC popping up like 20 minutes later. That's not even a hyperbole, it actually is in that range of time.
So i tried installing the win10 insider preview build on my win7 pro desktop, i got to the install stage and it notified me that my pc would be restarting multiple times during the install, but after the first restart it just gets stuck on this screen

how do I delete windows.old
how do I delete windows.old
run windows cleanup

I usually just tell Windows Explorer to delete that directory and haven't had a problem with it
i think it gave me permissions errors once but I cheated and used Linux after that
run windows cleanup
It's not showing up for me
[editline]14th July 2015[/editline]
nevermind had to hit system files
always bugs me that you have to wait for it to calculate ~space you could save~ then press "clean-up system files" only to have it calculate again
When you type Disk Cleanup in the start menu hit Ctrl+Shift+Enter.
Is there a way to make thetime/date show on the taskbar for multiple monitors? It only shows on my main.
Is there a way to make thetime/date show on the taskbar for multiple monitors? It only shows on my main.
without modification, no
Just got a graphics driver(nvidia) update through windows update and it made my 2nd monitor flicker like crazy with any motion, rolled it back and everything is fine again, hope they fix it soon.
Here we go:

I guess it's because Microsoft know their own OS inside out so they can optimize the fuck out of it.
I guess this is it

So just to be clear, if I don't authenticate my Windows 10 insider key with a Windows 7/8 key, I can keep using it as long as I am okay with using insider builds rather than the final version?
where get ISO
I'm installing it right now through Windows Update.
they explicitly stated they aren't releasing ISO's anymore since they want to test the shit out of the upgrade system
where get ISO
Windows Update only
I cant find any update for that build.
Trying it on my stream 7, super excited. Just wiped my home PC and installed 10162 as well.
I'll be joining soon
When you update will everything just be dumped into windows.old or will stuff still work? If it's the former I may just back everything up and do a clean wipe.
