They called it Windows 10 because of the 10 different devices that it will run on. 1. Internet Connected Things 2. Phone 3. Phablet 4. Small Tablet / Reader 5. Tablet 6. Convertible 7. Laptop 8. Desktop 9. Xbox 10. Perceptive Pixel (Wall Mounted Screens)
That...actually makes sense. Thanks.
That...actually makes sense. Thanks.
What? No it doesn't.
Also, here is how 'Continuum' will work:

It's really obvious that if that's actually the reason for its name it's a super fucking huge stretch.
What? No it doesn't.
I mean its super contrived, but its better than "because we wanted to lol".

One is also a number and generally signifies the first in a series... maybe this is cause for concern?" [editline]30th September 2014[/editline] and it then managed to turn into "Xbone" so...
Not sure why they brought the start menu back after everyone got used to no longer needing it. Much like others I mostly press the Windows key and start typing then leave the start screen right away.. Never really liked the apps so my start screen always looks like this [t]http://i.imgur.com/PN7GmtF.jpg[/t]

Is there a way to partition my drive to still keep my regular windows but install this preview as well?
I'm buying a second drive for the windows preview and retail to solve this issue. But yes you can, you can shrink and then split it.
Like so, It's in Disk Manager
Improved CMD I fucking came :v: http://withinrafael.com/new-experimental-console-features-in-windows-threshold/
copy and paste in CMD? What a time to be alive.

Wonder if I'll be able to install it on my T100 - I have nothing essential on it...
Cleaning of the HDD begins. I need one free partition...
Download is up, go go go. http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/preview-download

Started off at 10MB/s, down to 500k/s. Goodbye server.
Can you "update" from 8.1 to 10 with this? I doubt I will do that (its still probably unstable) but I would like to know "IF".
Can you "update" from 8.1 to 10 with this? I doubt I will do that (its still probably unstable) but I would like to know "IF".
Yes. In-place upgrade from 7, 8 and 8.1.
Yes. In-place upgrade from 7, 8 and 8.1.
Thats great :) If Windows 10 is stable enough for a week, I could upgrade then.
Yes. In-place upgrade from 7, 8 and 8.1.
Glad they did that, since a lot of their users are still using win7. Usually it's only properly upgradable if you're using the newest release
If you want to go back to your previous operating system You'll need to reinstall your version of Windows from the recovery or installation media that came with your PC (typically DVD media). If you don't have recovery media: For Windows 7 or Windows Vista: Before you update, you might be able to create recovery media from a recovery partition on your PC using software provided by your PC manufacturer. Check the support section of your PC manufacturer's website for more info. For Windows 8.1 or Windows 8: You might be able to create a USB recovery drive. For more info, see Create a USB recovery drive.
Sorta tempted to slap it on my extra drive as I don't use it for anything and my Windows 7 install is stable enough to not worry about a backup in the next few days whilst I sort that drive out. But, ehhh. Technical previews. I'd much rather test it when it gets nearer release, I do want to see how the virtual desktops go down.
This is kinda exciting.
I have it installing already (VM of course). Luckily my internet is super fast and it downloaded in like 2 minutes. I am really pumped for this OS. The utility/management they have added is very much needed.
I'm installing it onto my First Generation Surface, while touch isn't ready yet, I do want to give feedback for both the touch and keyboard UI. Might Hyper-V it on my desktop [editline]2nd October 2014[/editline] Just realised I had downloaded a gigabyte of American English version. NOPE, fuck that, English UK Restart download
and im in. (background got synced from regular account) Just used the multiple desktops, its about time! I am so ready for this to be released.
