fuck it, it's time to jump on this with my main PC; what's the best way to fresh install at the moment? I'm guessing they'd prefer you to go Windows 8 > W10 (upgrade) > RTM (upgrade), but the last time I tried clean installing 10048 the OOBE crashed when adding an account. I stupidly didn't grab the 10062 ISO so I can't clean install to that either, which sucks. (I have access to MSDN)

I think you should be able to update just fine without reinstalling / fresh install. Use the ISO to update to an older version, then Windows update to the recent build
I am getting it too now.

My PC needs a fresh install anyway, and I was holding out for RTM to do it. I'll probably clean install 8, upgrade my way to RTM, then do a reset to get OOBE.
Welp, I went into settings on 10240, disabled Windows Insider, restarted, and I am permentantly activated even though this was a clean install of Windows 10. Thanks Microsoft!

I'm confused, Windows 10 was released? I don't see anything on my end, I'm not in the Insider programme but I got confused by some recent posts here...
Aah, I understand, thanks :)
29th of July it stays then!
Yeah at this point may as well wait for the official release.
I'm really impatient. Did anyone try upgrading 8.1 to 10162 and then update to 10240? I have an insider account.
I was hoping some of the store applications closing on startup would be fixed in the RTM release, but it seems it's still occurring. Apps like MSN Weather and Money automatically close when they get launched, but none of the workarounds had any effect, like uninstalling/reinstalling, WSReset.exe or any PowerShell related commands.
Does anyone have a clue what would cause them to crash on startup?
Has anyone else been getting low quality taskbar icons? That's really the only issue I've encountered.
For some reason, I keep getting a 0xc00000e error on boot. Says it can't find the Windows installation, and when I try to find it manually it just shows Windows 7 and Windows, neither of which work.
When I choose "Windows Boot Loader" in my UEFI boot menu, though, it works fine. Maybe this next update will fix it.

Well they used to be 32x32 on 7/8/8.1 on the normal sized taskbar. I think 10 uses smaller ones now, something like 28x28. It seems like a lot of icons don't have 28x28 versions so they scale down the next largest wrong. Please let me know if I'm a dumb idiot and totally wrong about this or if they changed it.
Its been a fun ride with Windows 10, I have to admit I've been very stupid and using it as a daily driver since around December. The build upgrades really got on my piss at times but hopefully this should be the last.

silly question, but do you have a USB stick or drive plugged in
my computer refuses to boot sometimes with junk plugged in, especially things like the installer USB for an autodesk product suite. Tried rebooting my home computer remotely while one of those buggers was in recently, and ended up locked out til I could get home

It's kind of fun using the pre-release versions of Windows as a daily driver, as long as you don't mind it too much when things break or having to reinstall if everything breaks. I went nuts with 7, I installed almost every build released and leaked since 6801. I remember grabbing one leaked build just because they changed the icon of the control panel. I was a dumb idiot but had a lot of fun with it.
I went to 8 as soon as I could but got kind of bored with the beta stuff by the time 8.1 came out. I messed around with 10 a good bit too, started with the first publicly released build but stopped when 10056, I just kept getting a lot of bluescreens and updates took too long to install so I went back to 8.1 for the time being. . It seems like a totally solid OS from what I've seen, I can't wait to mess with the rtm.

Ironically, it was Edge that was the one having the problems. Everything else was perfect, seems to be fixed now.

No USB drives, but my keyboard triggers my UEFI's "boot from USB" feature. It's a Razer thing, so we all know how that works.
But that used to just cause it to lock up on the splash screen. It's never thrown an error at me like this.
can you change your boot priorities in the bios
I have like no technical knowledge in this stuff so someone else is better off driving here, but I remember being able to set that and I made sure my hard drive got put to the top of the list and that ideally solved it
You could even try unplugging any other drives you have.

Worked fine on my laptop.
I've made it to the other side, lads, and the latest nvidia driver fucking sucks.
I can't live with this massive cursor thing.
I feel like I am part of something big now...:lick:
It's like Microsoft's paradigm shift.
Once Edge gets extension support, I can honestly say that I'll be using the majority of Microsoft's default programs without having to bother with anything else.

But the default photo app is so bad... :(
I had to change it back to the old Windows Photo Viewer after a while.

I have a very very very large typing cursor now on this build.
[editline]16th July 2015[/editline]
and yes this doesn't show up on print screen lmao[/QUOTE]
Revert your Nvidia drivers.
Could any of you guys check whether additional languages are available for this build? Or more specifically: Danish.
Everyone on 240 is issued a generic key, if you plan on bailing out of preview now, your going to have a bad time.

It's slower to open but it's not bad.
The video and music apps aren't very good to me though.
The music app is really eh to me. It's just far too large, and I have to scroll a lot to get around, whereas foobar shows everything without the need for scrolling.
