It appears I was too optimistic... reverting to 8.1 Whoops I wiped the SSD :v: It's a Windows roulette kind of night! For anyone wondering - you can install and use Windows fine but it won't activate.
Is it worth doing a clean drive wipe and installing Win10 10240? Because I really should do that, and I'm thinking about just installing Windows 10 on it, since I don't have any Win7 or Win8.1 discs laying around. I'm just curious is it worth using Win10 build 10240 as a daily driver or should I just wait for the full system release?

At this point, you're much better off waiting until release and getting an upgrade. My PC got fucked when trying to do an upgrade, and I looked into doing a fresh install to fix it, but it turns out you just can't do that, so I'm having to roll back.
Trying to upgrade from activated 8.1 instead of clean install... if this doesn't work I'll just sit on 8.1 till the 29th

Did they replace the default Windows Image Viewer with an App on Windows 10? Is there no way to revert to the standard viewer?
Did they replace the default Windows Image Viewer with an App on Windows 10? Is there no way to revert to the standard viewer?
Yes No [t]http://link-removed.xyz/i/2015/07/15-07-17_00-14-59.png[/t] Just change default as per normal
Damn, I really wanted to install it :/ Well, I'll guess I'll just wait to 29th July
Yeah it sucks. 8 just feels really old in comparison having used 10 for ages now. But it'll only be two weeks so feck it.

Just managed to get 10240 working without ever running another version of Win10 preview. -- Registered for insider program here with my Microsoft account: https://insider.windows.com/ Then... 1. Installed Windows 8.1 with generic key (because I have an original Windows 8 key). 1.1 - Signed into Microsoft account. 2. Activate 8.1 with proper key. 3. Run Setup.exe from Windows 10 iso file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxllGyJCTzUpVk4tX0pCR1hZVVk/view 4. Install (do not click download updates within upgrade the assistant screen, or you'll get stuck at a black screen) 5. You are now on activated Windows 10 Pro 10240 Doesn't appear to expire either.
Is the standard Windows calculator still in there or do I have to use the app now.
Is the standard Windows calculator still in there or do I have to use the app now.
It's been removed as far as I can see. There's a ported version of the classic calculator you can download. Or Microsoft has a Calculator Plus which is compatible: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=21622

Is it possible to remove the OneDrive Documents from This PC and replace it with the local Documents folder? Nevermind. Got it.
I still have no idea how to get the default Windows Photo Viewer to work. I'm stuck.

[editline]16th July 2015[/editline] Did you upgrade or flash? I flashed so maybe that program got "upgraded" with your win 8 install. [editline]16th July 2015[/editline] Choose another app > More App's It's there. [editline]16th July 2015[/editline] Or not. It just seems to want to print it.
I did a complete wipe for Windows 10. Is it an option in "Choose another app"?
I may be late on this but I thought I'd post this anyway. DO NOT ENABLE "G-SYNC FOR FULL SCREEN AND WINDOWED MODE" on Windows 10 10240. When I enabled that, it made every built in Windows non-fullscreen app (start menu, search button/bar, Microsoft Edge, etc) to lag and freeze like fuck. "G-Sync Fullscreen only" works fine though.

Just installed 10, I love it already [editline]16th July 2015[/editline] What's the consensus on the new ie?
[t]http://i.imgur.com/FN52mVp.jpg[/t]
is anyone else having two instances of the same app in the start menu? this is bothering me
Edge seems to instantly close when I open it through the taskbar shortcut, but if I search something in the Cortana bar it works fine?
Up to a year after launch [editline]16th July 2015[/editline] Well shit
here's an unnecessarily complex way to disable a single update: http://hmemcpy.com/2015/04/preventing-a-certain-windows-update-from-installing-on-windows-10/

I've narrowed it down and I realized that something went wrong with the file associations. Any way to fix that on Windows 10? Reset them or something?
Tried this? [t]http://i.imgur.com/OgbquJe.png[/t]
I was going to but I doubt it's going to solve anything, I've setup everything already, it's going to be such a pain in the ass. I really wish I could just redownload the default Windows Photo App, I thought it was hijacking the viewer again. Is it possible to restore the default Windows apps? Or do I have to reset. [editline]16th July 2015[/editline] Fuck it, I just downloaded the Microsoft Photos app again :vs:
Running 10240, and Nvidia drivers 353.50 (the ones that break the text cursor), we seem to get DirectX feature level 12_1 on Maxwell 2.0 now, I assume this would also enable 12_0 for the older Maxwell stuff. Not sure how new it is but it's the first time I've seen it.
