How exactly is Microsoft making money from Windows 10 again? Is the Home edition free or what?
Most people who have Windows buy a physical PC, not upgrades or manual clean installs.
i go on vacation to virginia for five days and we jump from 10166 to 10240 haha fuckin noice
RTM build numbers have to be divisible by 16 starting with Vista.
damn, that's pretty sweet actually. and here i was going "damn, 1024 bytes in a kilobyte, well played ms"
anyone else getting super stretched out cursor icons? (image zoom and text cursor specifically) after 10240?

[editline]16th July 2015[/editline] and yes this doesn't show up on print screen lmao
Revert your Nvidia drivers.

anyone else getting super stretched out cursor icons? (image zoom and text cursor specifically) after 10240?
That's caused by NVidia's 353.50 drivers. Just reinstall the 353.30 drivers.
Just fresh-installed 10240 for the first time. Wow, Win10 is great so far! If only Edge had adblock.

Anyone know if windows can cast to chromecast devices? It detects my sony tv and the xbox but not the chromecast.
Is there some kind of forced vertical sync? I can feel a delay while playing Guild Wars 2. [editline]16th July 2015[/editline] Maybe I need to get the nvidia driver manually? Windowed fullscreen is capped at 60 fps, this stinks.
Anyone know if windows can cast to chromecast devices? It detects my sony tv and the xbox but not the chromecast.
What do you mean? The chromecast extension in chrome definitely works and my plex server (that runs on my windows machine) can cast to my chromecast.
What do you mean? The chromecast extension in chrome definitely works and my plex server (that runs on my windows machine) can cast to my chromecast.
Nothing to do with chrome. When you right click a piece of media, you can highlight "Cast to Device".
Nothing to do with chrome. When you right click a piece of media, you can highlight "Cast to Device".
I would be more helpful if I had a product to test on. But Miracast is something that Microsoft uses a lot for casting, and I hear that Chromecast has somewhat support for it. None-the-less, I'm unsure if cast-to has any support for screencasting, and is more for DNLA or whatever. This function really needs more documentation If you feel like it, you can always ask Microsoft in the contact support. I noticed that there are no help docs available in windows, but with the ease of contacting support, I guess that it's become a viable tradeoff
google cast != miracast [editline]16th July 2015[/editline] no, you cannot use use a chromecast as a miracast destination
If you get Google Cast BETA for Chrome, you can cast your entire screen and audio with a 3-second delay. I've only tired it in Macs so far, but I assume it works the same way. The only problem for me is that iTunes movies won't play :/
google cast != miracast [editline]16th July 2015[/editline] no, you cannot use use a chromecast as a miracast destination
My head can't compromise some claims I think I'm reading it as you're able to cast android to both mira and chrome but someone's interpreting it as something different so it's really throwing me out
Nothing to do with chrome. When you right click a piece of media, you can highlight "Cast to Device".
Oh, I had no idea that was in there.
My head can't compromise some claims I think I'm reading it as you're able to cast android to both mira and chrome but someone's interpreting it as something different so it's really throwing me out
miracast and chromecast are two totally different things but you can cast android to both mira and chrome yes it's confusing mira is always direct device to cast destination, chromecast is usually "yo chromecast open this url for the content"
But the default photo app is so bad... :( I had to change it back to the old Windows Photo Viewer after a while.
You mean the fullscreen Metro one? Unless they improved it in Win10, it's pretty terrible yeah. No RAW file support even.

Fullscreen proper is still uncapped, kinda suspect it's DWM or something, but it's annoying.
Anyone know if windows can cast to chromecast devices? It detects my sony tv and the xbox but not the chromecast.
No it does not seem to work. I can also cast to my TV but not to the chromecast plugged into it.
Yeah I noticed this too in CS:GO. Fullscreen proper is still uncapped, kinda suspect it's DWM or something, but it's annoying.
There has to be some way to fix this without using full screen. This is a completely valid reason to stay on 8.1 or 7 for hardcore gamers.
No it does not seem to work. I can also cast to my TV but not to the chromecast plugged into it.
what tv you using?
Go the Xbox app and disable Game DVR, seems to disable the forced vsync again.
Thank you very much! It worked! This information needs to be more accessible or people are going to downgrade very quickly on release
Thank you very much! It worked! This information needs to be more accessible or people are going to downgrade very quickly on release
Give it to total biscuit problem solved :vs:
So tempted to go and install Windows 10 already Any reason not to do it at this very moment ? (in the insider program already, and installed it once (dualboot) so I can download it again )
For those who miss original Photo Viewer, it's still there but it's run via rundll32
%SystemRoot%\System32\rundll32.exe "%ProgramFiles%\Windows Photo Viewer\PhotoViewer.dll" ImageView_Fullscreen
Yet gotta figure out how to let Windows know about it for permanent
Okay so my Spotify got updated and its like now a weird shade of green? Is that the new logo or something? In the taskbar it looks really bad quality and unsharp. Anybody know a fix?
