Can you disable Cortana and stuff that collects data based on you? Some people I know are paranoid of this thing.

Look at how unsharp the picture is, I can see jagged edges on it. Is that the actual logo or is it something on Windows side

It's likely trying to upscale a smaller version of the icon.
What should I do to fix it?
Anyone having BSODs when they connect via a VPN to the Internet? The only way I can seem to replicate this problem is connecting to a VPN, and then eventually it'll BSOD.
anybody got viper audio working on win10 yet?
Yet gotta figure out how to let Windows know about it for permanent
I tried having windows open rundll32.exe via a shortcut with the same target info, but it didn't work.
Should I worry about losing the Windows 10 upgrade? I'm getting a new motherboard soon and there is a pretty good chance i'll have to reinstall windows 7. Should I worry, or am i just worrying for no reason?
Just managed to get 10240 working without ever running another version of Win10 preview. -- Registered for insider program here with my Microsoft account: https://insider.windows.com/ Then... 1. Installed Windows 8.1 with generic key (because I have an original Windows 8 key). 1.1 - Signed into Microsoft account. 2. Activate 8.1 with proper key. 3. Run Setup.exe from Windows 10 iso file: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BxllGyJCTzUpVk4tX0pCR1hZVVk/view 4. Install (do not click download updates within upgrade the assistant screen, or you'll get stuck at a black screen) 5. You are now on activated Windows 10 Pro 10240 Doesn't appear to expire either.
Argh. Does anyone else have another link to the .iso? I didn't even know Gdrive had download limits.
I actually found a torrent, though I'm a bit worried if it's legit or not. Googling the SHA1 hash gives me a bunch of random websites that I don't recognize, so I'm wondering if anyone can confirm for me? SHA1 hash is C42B107CB8930CA82A42BE0F9325A37BE2E8FF64 Note that this is for the ISO. Thanks!
I'm not sure, but I think that might be warez...
My startmenu seems to die after I leave windows running for longer than 2 hours
Did a clean install of 10 onto SSD now I'm having the borderless fullscreen vsync problem, and f.lux is only able to change the color temperature of one of my TV and rightmost monitor if I have all three displays active...
I hear the vsync problem is related to xbox game dvr, disable that and you should be good. Maybe that's what's up with f.lux.
Soooo is there no way to pin programs to the left side on the start menu? [editline]17th July 2015[/editline] I have a leftover windows.old folder from upgrading W8.1 to W10. I ran Disk Cleanup but it's still there. The folder is completely empty. I tried taking ownership and then deleting it, but to do so it says I need permission... from myself. Wtf is going on. [editline]17th July 2015[/editline] Nevermind, figured it out. For whatever reason setting the permissions on the root folder didn't propagate it all the way down, so I had to set it further down also.
Will I have to reinstall evey app if I do a Refresh?
My PC freezes randomly, and I can't figure out what's causing it. It's been happening since I upgraded to 10166, and now on 10240.
I haven't been able to put my computer into hibernation mode or sleep mode since 10130 (I think? Maybe earlier) It just hangs up and never shuts down completely. I can't find any sort of power settings in my BIOS that would be causing it either.
I'm not sure, but I think that might be warez...
Kind of a grey area really, it's not technically released, and it's not technically available as an .iso file - though Microsoft explain how to make the file from an updated installation.
Kind of a grey area really, it's not technically released, and it's not technically available as an .iso file - though Microsoft explain how to make the file from an updated installation.
If the definition of warez is "software that has been illegally copied and made available." I don't think windows isos are technically warez. You do still need an activation key for it to be any use really. But it's all up to the mods
Modern apps? IIRC they remain intact post refresh
I mean programs. The non-store ones like Photoshop, Winrar, Office, etc Foud out the hard way now :v:
what is facepunch general opinion on the edge browser? personally im in love with it but kicking the chrome habit was a bit hard at the beginning when youre used to all your stuff, passwords and autofills accumulated over the years just being there in one place
Can confirm: Was activated previously on 10240 upgraded from earlier Insider builds. Complete reinstall done using the .iso burned to a DVD, skipped CD-key entry when asked, and automatically activated permanently once install was finished. Has to be linked to hardware as people were saying.
