Is 10 worth going to from 8.1? I normally jump on the new OS train but this one seems like its geared towards tricking you to using live accounts / Xbone stuff / Dumb users ( Nanny state sort of management - Updates etc)
Happily browsing away on FP and my screen cuts out and comes straight back on, Windows plays the "found new hardware" sound and boom, my graphics drivers and nvidia control panel are completely gone.
Stop fucking doing this.

You don't have to use any of that live accounts/xbox stuff if you don't want it, you'll get a better start menu out of it though I personally have nothing against 8.1's start menu nor it's apps.
Downsides at the moment for me, forced updates that as you can see in this thread can screw you over, and this is a bit more of an opinion, I liked 8.1's mail app better than 10's.
So...very annoying bug. I can't edit my NIC settings. Windows Explorer restarts when I right click and select properties. WTF is this shit?

Yeeeeeesssssss.
I'd maybe give it a month past release, though. A lot of the drivers are still a bit rough around the edges.

This is driving me seriously fucking insane right now, especially as the newest ones fuck up with the mouse in games. My urge to punch Joe Belfiore square in the face right now is rising.
The drivers will be beta tested first via nvidia's normal beta channel. Why would you want to use the bloated Geforce Experience compared to an automatic update by Windows
Shadowplay, not forced updates in the middle of gaming or work.
Those should be enough.
The drivers will be beta tested first via nvidia's normal beta channel. Why would you want to use the bloated Geforce Experience compared to an automatic update by Windows
The only reason I can see is whenever Windows automatically updates my drivers it turns of all monitors apart from my main one and I need to reboot to fix it, plus if it does it in the middle of any game
Can someone point me towards what I would need to do now to upgrade to Windows 10 before the release date, since I've read around that it's possible but I can't find where it said that now? For reference, I have Windows 8 Pro (activated).
Additionally, if I were to opt-out of being an insider, would I keep my license for Windows 10?
I would also like to know this, anyone here who can explain this?
The drivers will be beta tested first via nvidia's normal beta channel. Why would you want to use the bloated Geforce Experience compared to an automatic update by Windows
As TDocter said, Shadowplay, streaming, and the ability to customize the driver's installation, I don't need the audio drivers or 3Dvision so why would I ever want to install these
Also sometimes the drivers are SHIT and maybe I just want to wait a day or two and see if they work fine for everyone, or roll back to a stable one.
I still remember the 320.18 ~WHQL~ driver that nearly destroyed my 660Ti
It might be a good idea to avoid win10 for a month.

ATTENTION!
353.62 has recently been released through Nvidia Experience and fixes a lot of the bugs with windows 10. Most notably the screen tearing bug.
Can also be downloaded through here: http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=401109
Came home, my computer was running at 720p. Thanks Microsoft!
Seriously, though. Fix your update system.
OK the working drivers I had installed uninstalled themselves and put the new ones back in its place. Fortunately this time the mouse issue has fixed itself, however now I can't open the control panel for the drivers meaning that I cannot adjust the colour depth or range which means I have a washed out looking image in comparison.
I think this is possibly the worst luck you're having. :v:
I'm going to wait for a patch, I'm just bored of fixing shit when I've at least got the ability to play my games now.
Failed an update. Ok

I restart.

Same thing happened to me. Came back to one screen disconnected again, checked windows update, failed to install. Restarted to get back second monitor, had new drivers.
Apparently you can use https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/3073930 to hide problematic updates/drivers so they don't install automatically. Why they removed the hide functionality from Windows Update and released a separate tool that does the same thing is beyond me, but apparently it works.
What time can I expect W10 gmt?
8 am Wednesday UK

Why do i not get any Nvidia drivers from windows update?
I just installed windows 10 and download the latest w10 driver from geforce.
So...very annoying bug. I can't edit my NIC settings. Windows Explorer restarts when I right click and select properties. WTF is this shit?
Litterally just read a Forbes article about this.
There were 2 updates to win10 that everyone pretty much got, however it causes grief for a number of users.
Troubleshooting the device works as a bypass to (re) start it up without crashing, otherwise you need the rollback application
Meh going to hold back for the first time on a window cycle seems way to messy currently - Also there is bloatware you cant remove - Xbox / Candy Crush?
I don't see any perks in updating apart from DX 12?
Seems like I would be loosing more then i'm gaining from an update
Is there a way to get direct downloads to the iso when it launches (Plus my cdkey from the upgrade)? I really want a clean install
I assume there will be an iso available either officially or unofficially pretty quick.
You might need to update to get your key then clean install or smth though.

I just hope I can update to the release version. "We couldn't complete the update." and it reverts :/
I ran sfc /scannow but apparently it couldn't fix everything and now i have a log and no idea what to do with it.
I also tried the Microsoft fixit for the updater but that didn't work either :(
Thank you based Winaero

Also if anyone wants to use 'not bing' in windows searches
Nightly has you covered

Is there an easy way to change the system font yet?

will that require nightly to be our web browser though?
will that require nightly to be our web browser though?
It looks like it. I have the option enabled in nightly, but chrome is my default browser and it still searches with bing.
will that require nightly to be our web browser though?
Yeah, it's a dirty hack that takes searches from windows context, and instead sends the query to google from the browser.
That question is also asked in the comments twice :v:

Other than Candy Crush why exactly would you want to remove XboX?
[del]So have they pushed the retail release early or something? Because my pc randomly restarted, came up with the upgrade screen. http://i.imgur.com/QgsYbNi.jpg And now the watermark is gone. http://i.imgur.com/s42kgqP.jpg System settings also says Windows 10 pro, dunno if it says anything else for the beta.[/del]
Never mind I'm dumb.
