I don't see any perks in updating apart from DX 12?
Pretty much the only thing I give a shit about. If only DX12 worked on previous Windows releases.
So have they pushed the retail release early or something? Because my pc randomly restarted, came up with the upgrade screen. http://i.imgur.com/QgsYbNi.jpg And now the watermark is gone. http://i.imgur.com/s42kgqP.jpg System settings also says Windows 10 pro, dunno if it says anything else for the beta.
What version of Windows were you on before?
Checked the registry, it upgraded to 10240. I was just confused because of the lack of watermark.
Litterally just read a Forbes article about this.
There were 2 updates to win10 that everyone pretty much got, however it causes grief for a number of users.
Troubleshooting the device works as a bypass to (re) start it up without crashing, otherwise you need the rollback application
Win10 seems pretty shitty so far. It seemed okay at first, then the first update hit and broke shit. I guess QA/QC is lacking these days.

Also, watching Netflix..video freezes for a few seconds pretty often. Kinda annoying.
I just finished building a windows 7 machine, but the 10 update symbol isn't in the tray. The windows 7 installation is fully updated and everything, how can I get the update option?
Make sure Windows 7 activated first (If you set it to automatically doing it, it does it like 3 days after you installed it) If it still doesn't show, you can force it by running a script through the command prompt.

Which I had to do

Again, it's not out yet, and the hardware manufacturers haven't sorted out their drivers yet. Give it a few months, and it'll be rock-solid.
You can't really judge software on pre-release versions.
I think they may be releasing it just a hair too early. You can tell they're really scrambling, all these updates and shit makes me a little nervous, I think they needed a few more days.

It definitely needs more polish, I'll give you that. I think once the dust settles, though, it'll be a fine launch. It's already stronger than 8's Beta and RC.
Other than Candy Crush why exactly would you want to remove XboX?
Same reason you'd want to remove anything: you don't use it.
Though honeslty, it's negligible, and you can easily avoid it, so I'm not fussy about it.
Did this release to early previewers yesterday ?? I got an update and it seemed like it was installing windows and it got rid of the watermark in the bottom right

Will the upgrade be available on the 29th Microsoft time or would it be for the country you're in?

I checked the clock earlier, but it displayed as all zeros. Working now, with 14 hours left.
Can't wait to see how slow the college campus internet will get with everyone downloading the upgrade.
Are you being serious...

Yes it does but..
Really?
Well more specifically is it 100% of DX12's features or is it only some like basic software DX12 or Full Hardware DX12? it's hard to find info apparently.
All hard hitting questions for windows 10 (I should really not ask captain obvious stuff).
I'm pretty sure the installation error windows update gives is only the physx that won't install since it's already installed, the nvidia installer sometimes tells me this but the drivers and all are installed and working, possible confirmation ?
Even though I've been a part of the insider group since the start, I'm still fairly excited to see Windows 10 release and see how the public reacts.
Honestly to me, Windows 10 is fantastic but I feel this still needs more polish. MS should of held back the July launch till September because to me another two months work and this thing would be great
There's little tiny things that absolutely bug me on top of the fact that battery performance compared to Windows 8 is still horrendous, on W8 it took 30 minutes on power saver to drop to around 93% when I was running one note, it drops to around 87% on 10
Not that "big of a difference" but when your lecture room has no power points, it becomes a bitch.
And some general nitpick stuff that nobody would agree with but honestly it's not bad but nothing to get overly excited for
Can I create an installation media of my Windows 10 installation and use it to upgrade from Windows 8.1 on my laptop yet?
Something has been downloading for a while now, and is still going at it.

Could it be?
Is the upgrade to Win10 a new install or is like the Win7 -> Win8 transition in which you could keep your programs and files?

This is my biggest issue.
It's suppposed to unite mobile and desktop and yet it eats battery like a bitch.

Yeah... It's kind of silly to think it won't, isn't it? It's the most powerful consumer card out right now.

Out of curiosity, how big's the battery on your laptop? I get an average of ten hours on my MBP in Windows 10.

I feel like I should post it incase anyone stumbles across it, and doesn't know about it/can be usefull to them
Network Media Devices will are automatically installed and displayed on your explorer frontpage
can be changed from NetworkAndSharing

Gives a cleaner page, and leaves them all in the network discovery page.
If it's enabled, no matter how many times you remove a device, windows will just add it again :v:
