Hate to be devils advocate here but you don't pay for the internet, he does. You have absolutely no right to do whatever you desire on his connection with any privacy because it flat out isn't yours. If he cuts off your connection for a month for missing a day of school, how do you think his reaction will be when he finds out how much you're trying to circumvent his authority? The only way I can really see you winning without your own connection is going to not only be talking to him but convincing him of your maturity and desire for privacy. When you have your own place and your own connection, you can do what you like but until then, you're stuck. Just curious, how old are you?

MACs are used way below IP or even where a VPN would step in. If switching is borked, everything above it doesn't even get a chance to fuck up.

I agree with Polly, but it's also incredibly frustrating obviously and privacy is a thing which shouldn't be fought for in my opinion. privacy should be a thing people have from day 1, not after 5 years which is my case here. I've also talked to him and he wants to keep it this way. why? no clue. if he doesn't let me have privacy while using the web, then I'll obviously try to get around whatever he has put in place to prevent that.
but of course, I don't really have the authority to freely use his internet. the only thing which is bothering me is his constant monitoring (and no access to porn)
