Yeah, AMD is generally leagues better when it comes to price to performance ratio. That's why I'm an AMD fan; I can actually afford their cards.
For me its also the fact that i have no use for Gsync, because of my 120 hz monitor and no use for Shadowplay, i don't do recording. Idc about physX. That makes amd the most logical choice for me.
And i hope that the custom cooler 290X's actually beat the 780 ti so that nvidia has to do more competitive pricing.

PhysX: Giving marginally better yet totally aesthetic cloth and water effects for 1% of all PC games since 2004. I could not imagine a better use for my money.

I would like it too. Just for [I]my money[/I], I don't like it enough to drop an extra $50 dollars on a card that is on the same tier as AMD. I only own like 4 PhysX games anyway so it won't be a feature that would be sorely missed.

Because we were talking about using AMD cards versus Nvidia cards, (Noise, Price, Performance, Features, etc.) We were discussing what was important to us. I explained that I felt that some of the features on Nvidia were superfluous, stupid, and not worth the investment for what I wanted most out of my graphics card and presented my reasoning to illustrate why I made my financial choices. You jumped on me and said "well some people actually like that shit," which comes off as totally defensive and goes completely without saying.

it's worth the extra couple of bucks or so I pay since it's not the only extra goodie you get with Nvidia cards

Eh, I don't really have use for most of the features. I sure as shit can't afford a GSync monitor, I would rather use Fraps or DXtory for lossless recording over the AVC encoding utilized in Shadowplay, I've already made my case for why I don't think PhysX is worth it, and a lot of other features such as Adaptive VSync and some post processing AA implementations can be achieved through third party programs.

I should point out that I have no true allegiance to any one company; if Nvidia's given equivalent to AMD's card was on sale for cheaper, I would go for Nvidia. It's just that AMD is more consistently cheaper. All the bonuses are an afterthought.

Then Nvidia bought them and threatened legal action against anyone who wanted to use it on anything but specific Nvidia cards.
Though, that's mainly because Nvidia was formed on the foundations of 3DFX and dead babies.
physx or physics in general don't really make sense in multiplayer games since everyone gets their own version of it, because no serverside simulation

I had a super old copy of Mirror's edge somewhere where it did it too. Mind you, back then if you switched PhysX on without the card installed it made your computer screech to a halt.
These days I seem to recall Nvidia completely disabled the old PhysX cards with newer drivers.
It turned all silent hill outside.
