The Win 8 hate bandwagon in SH is literally giving me an aneurysm
Its mainly subjectivity.
Be a good idea to have a camera monitoring the front door outside, I often get asked to listen out for parcels but I practically live upstairs with the door closed 95% of the time.

I've noticed literally nothing terrible about Win 8 - the search functionality works better than in Win 7 and I spend more than 90% of my time on the desktop which has hardly even changed.
Just the fact that the start menu takes up the whole screen bothers me. And slow sliding animations and popups completely everywhere
I rarely use the start menu anyway,
If you could disable metro everything would be fine.
I wouldn't mind upgrading to Windows 8, I'd like to see what I could get out of this supposed "trainwreck".

I use it to start a few programs on startup (and then I hibernate so I don't have to do that again), plus for searching - which means I hit the Win key, type my search, wait a few seconds and usually hit enter. Not too many seconds spent in metro.

If you're just gonna do searching I find Win+S to be much better.

I have all the wiring setup so I can place a web controlled pan and tilt camera with 4x zoom (and web control!) on the roof but I can't find a properly sized plastic dome to cover it with. I already have IP cameras in the TV room, the server room and watching the driveway.

I can see how it's annoying but I simply don't understand how it could "Break [somebody's] workflow," like most opponents to Windows 8 say it does. It pops up, you click something, and it pops back down just as quickly.
Opening the Start Menu breaks workflow to begin with, since you're popping a big fucking thing into your screen.
It doesn't matter if it's full screen or not.
You can debate if it doesn't break your particular workflow, but it's a fact for some of us that it does. I wish I could find an option or something to make it modular.

Why did the beta run so well, eventually, with the final game being so broken.
