Oh shit, The Sun are doing memberships for £1 and you get a £10 Amazon Voucher and a £10 PSN voucher. How the fuck can they give this stuff away to every member? Surely they'd be losing a lot of money.
Newspapers get most of their money from advertising revenue, not actal sales. If lots of people buy membership then they can go to the advertisers and say "look how many people will be reading your ad" and then they will make bulk sterling.
Kinda like RSL clubs and stuff here, they usually have the whole "12 month membership for only $1" deal going on, because the more members they officially have, the more pokies they can have, which is where they get most of their money from
