how temporary are we talking
toothpaste is fine for like a day or so at max
I want to get work done on this XPS i'm rebuilding for my friend with the Sempron dinosaur, but i have no thermal paste.
Is it actually safe to use shit like peanut butter, toothpaste etc as temporary paste?
Mayo is a good emergency compound
So it turns out my brother is getting married. He gave us like 3 days notice. He's getting married while we're on vacation up north which means I have to go.
Benefit is that my parents are buying me some new camera accessories and I'm renting a 24-70 USM II for the wedding shoot. $2400 lens for 80 bucks for a week.
Woo.
Purely out of interest, what are the consequences of breaking a lens that expensive when you're renting it?
You don't get your deposit back? :v:
Seriously wtf is happening

I can only dream of those download rates (megaBYTES)
Comcast is cracking down
That's just for buffering during editing. I originally was going to put the PLAY in the beginning but took it out. With music it might work too. Idk, this was just for fun to experiment.
You got the right feel for sure. Me likey.
so I'm not 100% sure how to diagnose this issue, I believe it's a motherboard issue but it's possible it's the PSU or worse the CPU
I had this issue where my usb ports would lose power in game forcing me to reboot. It was as described in this thread, same motherboard Asus Z77 Sabertooth.
I've removed my overclock (optimized defaults in bios), disabed xHCI in the EUFI (some say that helps) and disabled USB sleep in Windows, and have reinstalled Windows as well. I have kinda gotten rid of it (or reduced it) but now it's like a miniature version of the issue. In game it seems like my usb devices (mouse and keyboard) randomly hang for like a split second (causing your character to kinda move a bit slowly in the same direction as previously walking in a slow unnatural way) then it comes back, it's very subtle but very bothersome. I've tried to see if my cpu is problematic by having LinX run 50 times but it passed. I have memtest run for over 1 test and it passed.
Specs:
Intel i5 3570k (stock clocks)
Asus Z77 Sabertooth motherboard
Samsung Green MV-3V4G3D/US 8GB 2x4GB DDR3 1600MHZ
AMD HD7970 graphics card (stock clocks)
Corsair HX850 PSU
OCZ Agility 3 SSD
Windows 8 64 bit (not 8.1 since I reinstalled to see if it would fix the issue)
Logitech G400 mouse (you never know this might be relevant) + Filco mechanical keyboard
What does this issue sound like to you guys? Any other sites or threads I should post this in? Any help or advice would be great.

My dad just told me that my grandmother, who we were going to stay with doesn't want us to bring our dog. I originally never wanted to go, still don't. A major reason is, for my dog which feels like he needs me around. But her dog that she has apparently has become even more nervous as time has gone on and would just be horrible around the house pissing on everything because he will think he's being replaced.
So now I'm being told we'd have to leave him home and have some kid come by to take care of the house and feed him and stuff. And I hate that idea. I never wanted to go, and still don't because I wanted to be with him and now I'm told this masterplan of taking two cars so we can bring the dog with us isn't going to happen. So I don't know what I'm going to do. He can't even get up half the time, is like half deaf, and sometimes can't even hear people enter the room.
It would ruin my only vacation in like 5 years.

You pay for the lens. I didn't use insurance on it. I've never broken or damaged my camera gear. It's one of the things which I'm best with.
Is there some kind of Cydia tweak that lets me access all of the files I have on my iPhone through windows explorer?
Also, they did it again!

since I'm behind the firewall again I can't access most HTTPS sites without our private certificate (paypal works for whatever strange reason). could someone explain to me how this works? this is the firewall "tricking" the connection into thinking twitter is unsafe, right? or is it actually protecting me? this won't happen if I'm connected directly into the router or if I'm connected to any other network. this only happens behind the firewall if the private certificate my stepfather made is erased from the computer
curious on how this works
[editline]20th December 2013[/editline]
not all HTTPS sites are affected. the only ones I remember riight now is google and twitter. is this because he's only sniffing those secure connections?
(late ish I know)
This is HSTS. Some certs are hard coded into the browser since those sites are often targets of surveillance, so even if you have installed someone else's cert and the cert is "valid". If its not the one that the browser is expecting. It will deny you even anything to do with it.
This is one of the perfectly sane and nice things that Chrome does (and coming in Safari 7) Not 100% sure if Firefox does it, IE does not for sure.
Side Note: You will find as well that your twitter app on your smartphone won't work as well. since the twitter apps have coded in HSTS by them selfs to protect them selfs.

Had to look that up in the lab. Awkward.

In Denmark the buses run Linux and I noticed a few boards running Windows, otherwise I'm pretty sure rest is Linux really.

And how the hell do i clean it up
Learnt something today, that Ultraviolet is not worth it. Two sign-up screens then Code enter screen wouldn't load in Firefox so I had to use Chrome to get their and even then it didn't work until the third time.
Think I'll stick to just playing Blu-rays from the disk. Quality is probably better anyway.
I wasn't sure where to post this and I need to get a quick response so here goes:
I am going to buy a Gigabyte Z87-HD3 and Ebuyer has a 10% off promo code for Crucial Ballistix memory. I'm planning on buying a 2 x 4GB kit of 1600MHz DRR3 etc. This one http://www.ebuyer.com/311813-crucial-8gb-ddr3-1600mhz-ballistix-tactical-memory-blt2cp4g3d1608dt1tx0ceu
I tried an online compatibility check and it says it won't work but I don't see why it wouldn't. It's 240 pin and stuff so could you guys please give me some insight?
Sorry if this is in the wrong thread though.
