merry christmas everyone
and with that out of the way, shoutout to win 8.1 for being actual fucking garbage and ignoring me when i TELL IT to not install driver updates for my graphics card that conflict with... themselves... and give me a black screen at startup. at EVERY STARTUP. And my non-pro version not having group policy editor so I can't go and directly disable automatic driver updates.
actual. fucking. garbage.
mine has never automatically installed drivers except at first boot

Not an excuse for poor design.
Rule 1 of ui design: everything should be as intuitive as possible.
Windows 8 and OSX gestures are intuitive. you just need to know they exist before you can make much use of them
$250 for 5ish hours of getting a full home network + printers/game consoles. Granted most of the time was spent trying to find a good spot to put the router thanks to a weird house design but it all worked out in the end.
Now to blow it all on the steam sale yehaw!
Damn I need to start charging for that kind of stuff.

Here you go. Right on the tile interface when you login.

To be fair, power options are not exactly intuitive to find. But Microsoft did fix it in 8.1 that they actually have a help section on where it is now.
[editline]24th December 2013[/editline]
Alternatively, use Win key + X or right click the Start button. Best feature of Windows 8.1 right there.
Merry Christmas to all

Sorry for being an idiot, what do you mean with the 100? I assume 95 being brightness and 94 being contrast, but the 100 I don't know what it could be. (I'm an idiot)
Also I first used HDMI but then saw it only went up to 1920x1080 so im using DVI now.

I'm assuming that would be the gamma setting for each color or color adjustment setting. The numbers are RGB respectively.

Red/Green/Blue color balance, not brightness/contrast. Displays are not supposed to change color tone between various brightness and contrast levels.
Also, are you sure the Dell one is the inaccurate one? Are your Asus monitors perhaps too blue-tinted? Or set to a difference color temperature?

I checked different color temperature profiles on the ASUS ones and they were set on standard and look like all other monitors I've ever used. The ASUS ones are definetely working perfectly as I just compared them with my school laptop and my sisters laptop. I will try the RGB color balance now.

Okay a bit better with RBG. Now the problem is that I like how bright I can get this monitor to be, but my ASUSmonitors look really dark compared to this. Gaah.

Monitors are always gonna be different from each other.. your eyes adjust to one monitor and when you look at another it looks weird until you adjust
okay so my stepfather came down a little angry telling me not to touch the server rack. I asked him about the certificate and he told me that it's used to decrypt the traffic (obviously) and then scanned by the firewall to determine if there is any malware or anything malicious in there. he says that he's not able to see anything in cleartext himself and he only gets reports if there is a virus or not in whatever traffic is coming through.
the box is a paloalto firewall. does this sound plausible? I don't know if I should bother going around it if I know for sure that my passwords/usernames/private things aren't readable to him.
this is like greek to me, don't really understand much but here's how it apparently works
You can configure the firewall to decrypt traffic for visibility, control, and granular security. Decryption policies can apply to Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) and Secure Shell (SSH) traffic. With the SSH option, you can selectively decrypt outbound and inbound SSH traffic to assure that secure protocols are not being used to tunnel disallowed applications and content. You can also apply decryption profiles to your policies to block and control various aspects of SSL traffic. For more information, refer to “Decryption Profiles” on page 244.
Each decryption policy specifies the categories of URLs to decrypt or not decrypt. App-ID and the Antivirus, Vulnerability, Anti-spyware, URL Filtering, and File-blocking profiles are applied to decrypted traffic before it is re-encrypted as traffic exits the device. End-to-end security between clients and servers is maintained, and the firewall acts as a trusted third party during the connection. No decrypted traffic leaves the device.
The firewall inspects traffic, regardless of the protocols that are encapsulated. Decryption policies can be as general or specific as needed. The policy rules are compared against the traffic in sequence, so more specific rules must precede the more general ones.
Its possible to do, but after skimming through the firewall's manual, it doesn't sound like the firewall is capable of doing it by itself. The decryption is mainly to see if you are trying to encrypt your web traffic over SSL to try and circumvent the firewall. Basically so the old trick of add https in front of the URL doesn't work anymore.
It seems its primary purpose is filtering traffic, as you would expect.

so my privacy/passwords should be fairly safe?
From the screenies it looks semi-useable. It's got that strange texture thing runescape had.
But I'll pass because shit like that's boring. Too busy playing GLide DOOM3.

Relatively speaking, yes. He can see what websites and IP addresses you've connected to, so its not 100% private, but your logins are most likely safe. To be honest, he probably doesn't give a rats ass about your user account info, because he can see what your doing anyway. :v:

wait, he can't see more than that, right? for example if I ventured into the gold members forum or my paypal account, he wouldn't be able to see anything in there?
