Yeah, but have fun getting it to fucking buffer. I get a speedtest download of 60 Mbps, but both Google music and Youtube won't buffer worth shit. I'm about to cancel my subscription, it's getting pretty godamn annoying.
Isn't the reason why YouTube is so slow is because they send you the cache version that's local?
I feel like this has been the most irritating Youtube video I have ever watched. They maybe right but the atmosphere of smugness really gets under my skin.
Of course there is a bit of a limit of what people can be able to hear, it only really matters when you can actually can hear all the minute differences in the music, though in the music in the video it does not matter as it is only electronic possibly 8 or 16 bit music, flac only matters to producers that actually take the feed in straight from the instruments them selves for mixing then. Until then flac is not that useful. Though at 320 bit mp3 you can still get the same quality as flac.
We got a new modem from Comcast and my dad is aimlessly trying to scramble to get his fuck-off old Cisco 1811W compatible with it.
Good luck with that J2SE interface :)

You want just a still of it?
Isn't the reason why YouTube is so slow is because they send you the cache version that's local?
That and the player doesn't buffer on purpose (Unless you force a quality setting I think, but that could always change)
The idea is that it downloads 10 seconds of video or so, measures how long it took to download, and then uses that measurement to adjust the quality setting for the next 10 seconds (So if it downloaded quickly, it will try the next higher quality, too slow and the quality drops down, etc.) Means you only see spikes of bandwidth being used (Better for the network) and it doesn't download more than it needs to play back.
That's assuming it all works of course, and each video chunk can be cached but I could imagine things like transparent proxies stuffing that up.
haven't been a problem with youtube speeds for me in a while now
couple of years ago i couldn't even buffer a 10 second video
You want just a still of it?
yeah sure that would be cool, thanks man.
hhhhmmmm I havent played red raction guerilla in a while, I want some destruction.
game doesnt launch
go through steam forums, see the words "games for windows- live"
consider giving up right here
manually download gfwl
game launches
cant access my local saves without logging into gfwl
guess at my password, I dont remember which one it was that long ago
put in cd key
gfwl checks if the password is right AFTER you put in the cd key
nope
cant reset password, the site is down
remember the bullshit I had to go through to play gta4 and flatout ultimate carnage
its not going to let me activate the key even on the same account it was originally on because "lol idfk it dissapeared"
horrible flashbacks
give up
this shit is so horrible it should be illegal
microsoft had to have done this shit on purpose so people would play consoles instead :tinhat:
GFWL has always worked fine for me. Still, it's unnecessary and ugly.
The patches were the worst, coming up when you've finally started the game it needs to update 10 times
The patches were the worst, coming up when you've finally started the game it needs to update 10 times
Oh yeah, that sucked so much ass.
and then in gta iv you had social club jfc rockstar
GFWL has always worked fine for me. Still, it's unnecessary and ugly.
My biggest issue was that GfWL used a different password system than normal Live, so a password Live would accept would be rejected by GfWL.
I think it's been fixed by now though, back then it was widely thought they were storing them in plain text (Due to stuff like having a length limitation), so different apps would have different methods of escaping/transmitting that lead to issues.
Edit: Oh god how could I forget the patches? I don't think that ever worked properly for me. Have it download and fail to apply the same patch 5 times in a row, etc.

And that's the story of how Linux once again failed to make a dent in the gaming market.
Though I suppose next year will really be the year of Linux.

I use youtube center on firefox which removes the dash playback making it so that it loads the entire video.

Even on a 15 Mbps connection, I've never had an issue with Google Play Music buffering. The only times where the buffer feels long is on on my phone when I have a 3G connection, but even then, it's about 15 seconds before the song plays, then it finishes flawlessly.

If they do get the price down to £500, and assuming it also comes with Windows, that's a pretty decent deal.
A 15.6 laptop with the same specs as that comes to £728, so £500 seems reasonable for no keyboard/mouse/screen/battery. At £699 however, it's too much.
As far as steam machines go, I'm most excited for the Gigabyte Brix Pro, it was still up in the air until today that it was ever going to hit market, but now it seems pretty sure.
The whole point of the steam box is that it runs steam os, isn't it? I mean you could install windows but I don't think they'll include it unless they charge extra for it.

It's a normal computer in a small form factor, and comes pre-shipped with SteamOS.
You can install any operating system you want, just like on a normal computer.
Some Machines AFAIK have a dualboot with Windows / SteamOS by default.
Taped the hinge on my laptop so it doesn't break any more and will continue using it till I have to send it off. Cause I cannot stand using the tiny laptop any longer than I have to.
