Kill me, please. I bought a computer from these people.
Since I finally got a tablet, I found that having a stylus would be nice.
I went into Radioshack and found that they were like $25. Fuck that.
I just bought a sponge for 98 cents and tada

Cheap capacitive stylus.

Go to eBay, 10 for $1
but DIY is fun
so tried out MGR revengence just now and amm, it's really laggy for me when using two 6870's. it's almost as if it's hard locked on 20 FPS, I'm not seeing it change at all. crossfire is enabled since I see that the second gpu goes to almost a constant 100% usage the second the game launches. the first gpu though? it's almost as it doesn't notice that the game launched at all.
[IMG]http://i.cubeupload.com/n0MrLR.png[/IMG]
why isn't it using my power from the first one? and I recall someone saying in this thread that he got it maxed out without issue on a single 6870 so figured I'd be able to play maxed with two of them? lowering settings doesn't work either

Let me guess, you're playing in fullscreen, and you're connected to the monitor via HDMI.
There's a bug right now where it locks to 24FPS when you're fullscreen and use HDMI.

my monitors are connected via DVI so that wouldn't be the issue. is it bugged even if you use DVI and fullscreen?
For those of you still in high school, how anal are your schools on electronics being out? Last year we could listen to music and stuff but now it's no electronics out unless it's schoolwork. (but at the same time out senior lounge has a larger tv with Mario kart)

When I was in high school, the unofficial policy was "Don't be obnoxious about it". I think officially they were supposed to be in your locker, but none of the teachers I had gave a shit. I imagine it was more work for them to get it taken care of rather than just letting them look at their phones during down time. If someone is using their phone when they're trying to teach a simple "bob, put it away" fixed it.
My dad's girlfriend's daughter mentioned that her school is pretty strict. Kids get sent to the office for having them out and sometimes the parents may have to pick the phone up from the office. You can only use them during lunch or between classes. It sounds like a waste of resources when the teacher could just put it on his/her desk if the student is being obnoxious about it and give it to them at the end of class.

My school has this whole "if it's on at all, it's getting taken away" approach.
Though today my chemistry teacher took an interesting approach. I walked in a bit late since I had to lug a massive TriCaster across the school but apparently some kid wouldn't put his phone away when she was talking right to him, so she just took the phone out of his hand and put it under the thing that captures textbook pages and sends them to the projector.
Everyone got a good long look at his texts because unfortunately he was texting when she took it.
She gave it back though and it was nothing more than "I'll meet you outside the grocery store at 8 xoxo kisses!" from his mom.

Lenovo is being extremely shitty lately every way imaginable. Especially their new laptop designs.
And this shit:

I use DVI, and I don't have any problems.
Weird.

yeah pretty weird. lowering the AA will boost my FPS with about 10 frames, and that's completely removing it. still pretty low around 25-30 fps. at times I'll have about 60 but that's rare
[editline]11th January 2014[/editline]
literally swinging my sword will take me from 60 fps to 30 fps in the second chapter :v:
My internet was suddenly slow, so I tried closing some open tabs, stop steam from downloading anything and try a speed test.
When speedtest.net eventually loads, this is what I get:
[t]http://puu.sh/6gU0y.jpg[/t]
Something is definitely up. I check the comcast website, and they have a speed test too. The only servers it pings are Comcast owned
[t]http://puu.sh/6gU9i.jpg[/t]
Thinking maybe whatever was dragging my internet down has stopped, I try speedtest.net again
[t]http://puu.sh/6gUhv.jpg[/t]
Nope. Steam was only downloading at 33 kb/s, but it's gone back up to 1.5mb/s. Still much slower than normal though. Just before it took a nose dive, I was downloading at 3.5mb/s
When I connect to a comcast server on speedtest.net the speeds are much higher, but still lower than the app through the comcast website. No matter what server I try, that isn't comcast, through speedtest.net, the speeds are all terrible.
I'm trying to learn Dvorak by using it on my tablet.
It's slow, but I think I'm making progress. Bloody hurts my head though.

had to clean a class computer a few days ago
god damn how do they even manage with this
and some 'bettersurf' was installed too with camsite ads
What game are those hacks even for?
some starwars game was installed, can't remember the name of it
Oh its for CSS.

Can anyone recommend a good white case light/cold cathode?
Nothing too bright, but enough to illuminate the case through a smoked window.

The worst part of saying "Much hard drive" is that it only has a 500GB hard drive by default. Isn't that basically a minimum by now for regular HDDs?

Is there much benefit to using it? Seems like it'd be a pain for any keyboard commands or games.
500 is still the mid standard for laptops
worse is that 1366x768 is still the standard
500gb on a laptop isn't bad at all if you have a seperate desktop tbh. just manage your storage better and use a nas or something
768p is terrrrrrrible
[editline]11th January 2014[/editline]
why does my desktop let out a very audible clonk noise every once in a while and when i shut it down?
i have no idea where it's coming from. it definitely isn't the HDDs, or the optical drives

I got the image of a small gnome pulling levers in a steam locomotive style area, controlling the HDD in my head. :v:
"oh bugger, time to shut her down *pulls massive leaver*, making the clonk noise"
If that's a mechanical, i suppose a SSD would be more Star Trek-ish

Next time I clean out/maintain my PC I'll recreate that.
i bought my laptop for like $1300 just because it had a 1080p screen

QWERTY was designed to be slow to write with, so there's always that.
If using Dvorak was 20% faster than QWERTY, with how modern operating systems are set up, you can switch keyboard layout in under a second with a hotkey, you could trivially swap to QWERTY for games, and Dvorak for typing on forums etc.
