Is it really worth a try? I mean you're already good with qwerty, another layout will just slow you down and confuse you whenever you use a qwerty machine.
Is it really worth a try? I mean you're already good with qwerty, another layout will just slow you down and confuse you whenever you use a qwerty machine.
It's not like he's going to lose the knowledge he already has of the QWERTY layout.
Nothing really wrong with QWERTY is there? I would just keep it consistent with whatever you have on your PC keyboard.
I like QWERTZ the most.
Basically, all free AVs suck
i agree [editline]13th January 2014[/editline] I'd learn dvorak but then I'd get fucked up whenever I use someone else's computer
i agree [editline]13th January 2014[/editline] I'd learn dvorak but then I'd get fucked up whenever I use someone else's computer
It's not as if you can learn or remember both.
It's not as if you can learn or remember both.
As much as I could remember both, I'd imagine switching from one to the other would be bumpy (source: i'm an idiot)
Happy birthday to those celebrating today/ this week.
Someone found the string "backdoor" in AMD's drivers, and now every moron on the planet is circlejerking about it. I hate humans.
Someone found the string "backdoor" in AMD's drivers, and now every moron on the planet is circlejerking about it. I hate humans.
Meanwhile, the dude who was working on superficial code for the drivers (possibly the bits that makes them crash randomly and uninstall dependencies/DLLs when they feel like it) is laughing his ass off and waiting for someone to ctrl-f his other code commentaries like "NSA" "Snowden" and "consoles are better"
Well I turned 19 today. It's a really weird feeling knowing that in a year, I'll be 20. I have no idea if I'm doing anything special for my birthday but it's whatever. Hope you guys are having a good new year so far!
Happy birthday to those celebrating today/ this week.
Do I count if mine was under a week ago?
Every backup is a show. Turns out the spare drive spun down and went to sleep YESTERDAY and instead of failing and notifying me the backup utility just sat there waiting for the drive to wake up.
i decided not to install any av and bought a macbook pro instead
Wow PC gaming is more popular than I thought in my school. My friend built a PC for Christmas, another just ordered his parts last night. Another asked me if he should be a PS4 or PC and mentioned that his brother and BF4 on PC. A couple people I know are getting elder scrolls online on PC since they don't have new consoles. I'm not alone now.

AV's suck because Malware has changed alot and most AV systems have not really had a chance to catch up. MSE is infact a really smart AV because it uses a different system to detect things rather than the standard 98% signature system. However. It is dumbed down a hell of alot by being the default AV in every new system meaning that it is the first hurdle to beat when writing malware.
I use MSE because I neither expect, nor rely on, my AV to be 100% effective. Defense happens in depth, in layers. I'm protected by keeping shit up-to-date, by disabling Java/Flash, by using Adblock, by MSE and by my own common sense. Even if each of those is only 0% reliable, that's 99.968% reliability from the whole, which is easily "good enough" for my purposes.
I don't even own a computer, so viruses are a non-issue.
I'v found that Malwarebytes + MSE + Ad blocker (with whitelist for sites i like) + common sense keeps you pretty secure Also the knowledge that if i need to wipe my PC i won't be loosing more then time (and getting annoyed at myself)
I don't even own a computer, so viruses are a non-issue.
People do write malware for things other than computers.
People do write malware for things other than computers.
Technically that's impossible.
People do write malware for things other than computers.
Mind you, embedded devices are still computers. Computers aren't limited to things with a screen and keyboard anymore.
Avast only has a pop up in start up for me.
And here I am with an Android potato
And here I am with an Android potato
A potato can still be used to calculate values of 0 (no potato) or 1 (potato) so technically it's a computer too. :v:
if (potato=true) { x="I have a potato"; }
if (potato=true) { x="I have a potato"; }
"if (potato=true)" isn't a valid statement.
Love that windows 9 thread. :v:
"if (potato=true)" isn't a valid statement.
It is valid, it just always returns true. Also it's unknown if X is used in any paths.
"if (potato=true)" isn't a valid statement.
It could make sense in some languages that I don't know about, but in C/C++, you'd be assigning the value of true to potato, then evaluating the if statement based on the value of potato, which would always be true! So all computers running this program would be a potato!
