Digitizing a bunch of MiniDV tape using Windows' import thing. When it's set up to make clips have their own individual files, it crashes when the tape is done. I found that out after two failures. Then my next problem: The camera randomly disconnected once in a while, stopping the import so I have to do it all over again. Turns out, it's when there's a spike/surge in the power lines so when people turn lights on, it disconnects for a picosecond. wtf.

Use Adobe Premiere Pro's miniDV import
Ain't got Premiere. I just wanted something simple that worked. For now, it's fine that the tapes are contained in only one file. But for some annoying reason, the very right of the frame is weirdly corrupted. Doesn't mean much, but I hope it's not the tapes.

You can get the trial and see if it does a better job. What are you using to read the miniDV?
On another note, 2009 sure seems like a long time ago. I was using XP, but I guess that was before 7 existed and before I had something better than a Celeron. Time's sure have changed.
This is why I love documenting things. I'm buying a new camcorder soon, even. A DSLR just doesn't cut it when it comes to quick and easy, good looking video...

The Canon 7D was announced in Sept 2009 and the 5Dmk2 a year earlier so at the time you could have picked up the expensive 5Dmk2 and not have the computer power to edit anything.

I gave my iPod 5G to my grandfather years ago. Were the DAC's on those really that good? That was before I had a decent set of headphones though so I wouldn't know. My friend gave me his dying 80 GB 6th gen, and I got a new 120 GB for it, since it was cheaper than 80. I do miss RockBox though.
