I can't even look at what plan I'm on because I have to type in my address and it comes up as a business location, because apartment complex.
actually after digging into my bill, I have "performance class" aka the lowest you can go without getting into the economy pay as you goish tiers

I used 174gb of data last month...and I've used 10gb this month already?

(I hope this doesn't break the don't post your speedtest rule)
Life is sad. Anyway I'm not going to go with comcast. Even though I really want faster speeds, other than that there are no benefits from all that I've read.
I will be going down to the att store at the mall sometime and ask for maybe an update on the possible upgrade. If I'm lucky Ill get speeds of up to 45, but more likely 24. Thanks for your guy's help, I used to read this thread everyday but I stopped like a year ago.

I've never broken 250gb per month on my plan. And I do a ton of downloading and uploading. Most I got to was 210gb.
So while caps are bad, you have to work to use that much.
They're bad when they fudge the number like they do here in Atlanta.
A lot of people are saying Comcast claims they use over 300gb a month, and you know it's bad when their meter shows 60gb of usage in a day when no one is home like they did to us.
Hopefully it's not stupid bull shit like Rogers counting all traffic on the router including lan traffic towards your usage cap...

You can still get 768K? :v:

did you ever consider maybe someone is leaching?
we did, but it doesn't make much sense that it's been happening in two different homes on opposite sides of town and we did the usual changing of passwords etc.
[editline]1st February 2014[/editline]
plus we did a test and unplugged the ethernet cable/disconnected everything for a day yet we somehow managed to use 10gb :v:
remember the company is always right

Are they counting the ARP packets to your router from the WAN side? Because back when we still had a seperate modem, the incoming light was just flashing constantly from all the ARP packets coming from the ISP and other customers in the area. I'm not shitting you, there were hundreds in just a few seconds. Which is supposedly common in cable internet networks.
Because if they were, that would be a shitty thing to do.
I wouldn't be suprised if they were doing that.
The article I read said March. :v:

And if that picture is wrong, then their support information on their own website is wrong.

"We're doubling speeds and also reintroducing caps have fun with that"

Well then again, there was one company someone on here mentioned that was counting his internal network traffic against his monthly bandwidth. Rogers maybe? I dunno.
I wouldn't put it past them.
Actually my router says we broke 275gig the last 30 days. Could be that I downloaded 100gb of random porn.
Can someone please tell me why this whole capping is now in place?
Because we already pay for a bunch of bullshit already.
Just read this article about vinyl records and I'm crying.
But what, exactly, are we talking about when we say that vinyl sounds warm?
“The bottom line? As humans listening, we do not like square waves,” says renowned producer/mastering engineer Peter J. Moore.
“It’s when you go from absolutely quiet to super loud with no time at all,”
“Digital, especially MP3s, reproduce square waves like crazy. That actually upsets people! You’re triggering your fear, which also triggers fatigue. It’s unnatural."
[...]
“A turntable playing a vinyl record could not reproduce a square wave if it tried.”
Why can’t it?
“If I have a wire that’s one-inch long, it takes no time for sound to travel over that wire. But in the coil in a turntable cartridge, that wire is very long and it’s wrapped around a magnet. So it takes a lot of time to get through that magnet and come out the other side. By the time it comes out, the sharpness, the ugliness has been rounded.
“That,” says Moore, “is what people mean by warm.”
In short: "Hurfuckindur I have no idea how sound works"

Something I'd expect from http://www.coconut-audio.com/
Honestly, with a limit of 250gb or even 300gb, I'd really have to try to use that much in a month. Of course, I haven't had any issues with mystery data usage either.

It's bad for families. I don't know how much we use, but we use a lot.
I have 4 other roommates. Someones usually on a laptop, everyone's using wifi with their phones, along with two xboxes, and my desktop. I am well above comcasts claimed "average usage" of 17gb a month, but still barely half the supposed 300gb limit...I want to see where they get that average number from.
I thought I had unlimited in the past but after reading fine print, my old ISP had data caps too. But it's in the same neighborhood of hundreds of GB a month.

My dad was able to find some old records on our monthly usage before the cap. We used about 80 to mid 96gb a month, but once the cap was put in place we suddenly started using 270 to 320gb a month...
It's pretty obvious Comcast is faking the numbers, and if they're not then there is something seriously wrong with how they monitor usage.

So what you're saying is; You have no mouse and you must scream?
You should buy something from Logitech. They seem reasonable.

Worst part of it is that this gigabyte ghost wont open so i cant clean it on the other side of the lens.

If the plan we're on (~25mbps) really does get upgraded to 50mbps, then we could theoretically go through our entire monthly cap in about 13 hours
Some of the ISP are huge ripoffs.
They advertise their connection as "100mbit!"
When its actually more like 60-75, the upload is 1mbit, and their Fair Use policy limites them to 5GB during daytime.
