Making a successful mobile game is easy
1. Find an old, fun flash game
2. Remake it for whatever mobile platform, release for $2 and/or covered in app purchases
3. Re-release the game on PC with no new features for 10x the price
4. Think of what to name your new boat
The best formula is to make sure the game can be easily expanded and skinned (a-la Angry birds, I don't mean mods or anything), have a small banner ad in pause menu and main menu as well as sell ad-free version. If it succeeds, release more versions with a new skin. You'll be a new Rovio in no time.

Don't forget movie tie-ins, you'll make millions when you start shitting out "Disney Fart Cops: Frozen" and "Fart Cops: Star Wars"

I'm throwing money at my Nokia 1616 but nothing is happening
I really wish Smartphones had built in controllers. PC games would have a mobile equivalent and could probably give the handheld consoles a run for their money. I think it would help if the whole gimmicky games fad could stop as well.
There are some actually but they're only external which doesn't really grant you what you wish.
On the other hand there is the nvidia shield.
Well I suppose having them be attachable to the smartphone itself would accept for me.

I think Nokia should bring back the N-Gage (but with more modern hardware.) It'd bring some more conventional games to Windows Phone.

It's bluetooth as well(lets not have another discussion on why its bad) so it works with practically anything.
For tablets though you may want to buy with care if you want to use the holder(unless you have a tablet stand)
What the fuck. Video tags work you piece of shit.
Looks pretty good, may consider putting it on my Birthday wish list providing it works with the games I want to play (Sonic 2, GTA 3).
EA has successfully managed to distill the very essence of a free-to-play mobile game into a single dialog box

Amazing.

They took the games tagline too literally. "Evil is good." Or maybe the classic Warcraft 3 cheat "greedisgood". Meanwhile I'm over here playing my old DK2, as well as War for the Overworld instead of that shitty Clash of Clans ripoff that bears no fucking resemblance to the original games, not even in aesthetic. They couldn't even do that.
Has anyone used a Professional Hardware firewall in a Home network?
Might get a used firewall from work for cheap/free
Playing around with WoW's console.
>help linecount
Help for command linecount:
linecount [float] specifies console height, in lines
... Float? I tried linecount 20, so it works, so either the help is wrong, or it's converting ints to floats before using it or... I don't even...
On the upside, I found a colourblind filter that was apparently added in the last expansion, that I didn't know about, going to be trying that out when the servers come up and I can get in, I have deuteranomaly, so dealing with green colours is a pain in the ass.
Oh wow.
Someone sent us a job application via email.
Looked good until you checked who else received this job application.
There were atleast 10 other corporations in the CC of the email.
Jesus man if you are that lazy, then make sure nobody can so obviously see it.

Hardware firewalls are only really useful atm you have super-high PPS. An decent router now a days can manage 100,000-1,000,000 PPS with a somewhat complex rule set, which is probably more then you'll ever need for a home network.

I can currently issue a max of 11 NAT forwarding rules on my Router.
1 Single Arma 3 Gamesserver uses 5 of those ports already.
Being able to create more NAT rules would be fucking amazing.
anyone that uses win8 and used win7 recently can tell me if win8 has slower win+w search or is it just placebo?
I'd say placebo. Windows search seems to be as fast as on Windows 7 for me. (if you count the animations away)
Woops, left my mouse at home, let me just grab one from the spares bin. Can't be that bad, right? Certainly not as bad as the trackpad.
HOLY CRAP this is so slow. I'd had my sensitivity down on 3 - I've turned it up to max and it still feels kind of slow. And I'm sure the lack of M4/M5, fast inertia scrolling and wheel tilt will get annoying today.
I might just swing by my apartment over lunch break and grab my regular mouse.

Win8 search actually seems faster for me. It doesn't seem to thrash the hard drive and pause while I'm typing like Win 7 did on non-SSD's.

I don't recall it being that slow, but I primarily use Linux on that laptop so that's probably why.

also, in work-related bitching news, we have moved to a fully agile scrum system. which is fine, aside from the scrum master using emails to do everything not-scrumlike. we have daily standups to status update daily - why would you send out an email 30 minutes before the daily standup to get status reports.
Someone on /r/Bitcoin posted a thread, where for every 100 upvotes, he'd give a Nexus 5 to a person who posts a video of them destroying their iPhone.
The funny part? It was legit.

It was fine if you were looking for something that's in System32 like notepad, but after a year or so of installing stuff, it starts to get uselessly slow

That's probably it then, its still a (relatively) fresh Vista SP2 install. Vista's only purpose really is for a couple Windows only games and Netflix (because no hardware video acceleration on a VM for intel GMA 950's makes the Core 2 Duo peg out). Everything else is for Linux.
Just applied for a job and got my first ever reply (Second time lucky), IT support engineer. I was on the phone with him and it sounded really promising and he was interested, really hoping I get it. The pay isn't great but it's the experience I really want, and I can take my Microsoft and Cisco certs while I'm there, so if I don't ever get a pay rise I can move onto a higher paying job.
Cool cherry mx with laptop size keys.
