The thing about Linux is that if you can't find a UI you like, you'll end up giving up really fast. I've been jumping all around the place, trying to find the best solution for me, and I think I've finally managed to narrow it down to 2 candidates (Enlightenment and i3).
I got WoW working in Mint on my desktop, but it runs like shit and it flickers every few seconds. I can't install fglrx either or else my computer won't boot. (Running a HD 6850.) I do have direct rendering enabled and I'm on Wine 1.7. Pretty cool shit, just not as functional as I'd like.

It's actually pretty cool that you got WoW to work with the Gallium drivers, well done.
She´s alive! Except my keyboard is acting up a bit. For some reason whenever I use caps lock to capitalize one letter, it does two sometimes.
For me, I always seem to go back to Windows. One of the main reasons for me, was the lack of Microsoft Office. I've been using Libreoffice on and off for a few years, but LO still doesen't come close to MSO. Here are some Main reasons behind my Microsoft office bias: 1. Microsoft Office makes files with a smaller filesize compared to Libreoffice. The reason behind this is, that for example, in the .docx file, LibreOffice is a lot more verbose when creating the XML tags. 2. The UI on Libreoffice is fucking terrible. Seriously, So many FLOSS Software look terrible compared to commercial software, it hurts. Just get a fucking UI designer. 3. Compatibility, Compatibility, Compatibility. LO is still not anywhere near the compatibility of .doc and .docx, which make up the majority of documents, especially in school and work. Yes, I know some of these points are well known, but It's fucking 2014. And befrore you say "Of just run Windows with Office in a VM". I do, and have done for years. It's bothersome, running a whole operating system, ontop of another one, just to use a document software. And don't get me fucking started on WINE. Another reason I Switch from Linux to Windows is interacting with a Domain. It's fucking amazing and the expierience is just not found on Linux. And sometimes, setting up stuff on linux can be a pain in the ass. (Point is basically moot, since Windows can be a bitch aswell) I currently made my mind up about when to use Windows, and When to use Linux: Gaming? Windows 8.1 Work? Windows 8.1 AD/DC? Windows Server 2012 R2 Webservers? Linux Application Servers? Windows Server / Linux [editline]13th February 2014[/editline] Oh and I'm currently really taking a liking to Windows Server 2012R2. Seriously, Managing a Windows Server compared to Linux is way more convenient. Not to mention the time saved setting up the same type of service on Windows Server compared to Linux is incredible.
My use of Linux has been limited lately, there is an odd once or twice in a year where I can go a day or two using it exclusively but alot of the time I'm burdened with Windows only games. Its a shame too, I really enjoy working with it and I'm hoping when I start working in IT I get to use it quite a bit.
So I bought a new case fan(Enermax T.B.Silence), just to find out it isn't working at all. Don't they test products nowadays? I mean, there isn't much I can go wrong, right? Or are there some fans that aren't compatible with every motherboard? I also noticed that it spins rather sloppy, like when I blew air into it that only worked from one side, now with all the other fans I have it works on both sides. Might be because that case fan I bought has a magnetic blade thing, so you can actually remove the blades from the fan to clean them easier. Anyways, gonna return it tomorrow and if he's suggesting me a replacement, I let him test it in the shop if it works...
Connection Monitor 3.0 http://puu.sh/6UKur.apk Now smarter and notifies on change of connection including Airplane mode. New debug option by holding the upper left to kill all scenes and new menu by tapping the upper right. [editline]13th February 2014[/editline] Bug fix version. http://puu.sh/6UMbE.apk Correctly turns monitor on and off [editline]13th February 2014[/editline] Forgot to defaultly have monitors turned off. http://puu.sh/6UML7.apk Expect me to screw up lots. Anyways, since someone told me, the app monitors your network connection and warns you of connectivity changes and also provide your devices IP.
a sub teacher asked me for advice on buying a macbooks earlier "what is your budget, roughly?" "about £350" oh no
a sub teacher asked me for advice on buying a macbooks earlier "what is your budget, roughly?" "about £350" oh no
You can't even get a second hand C2D one for that really.
NewNEW T61 motherboard is on its way, the seller shipped it out this morning. Here's hoping it has the right GPU this time :v:
You can't even get a second hand C2D one for that really.
i wouldn't want to put someone through pain like that
Now, it should work on the Nexus 5 and not do anything stupid. http://puu.sh/6UQ45.apk

Bf4 is amazing, new patch that breaks it for me and makes me not able to play at all. 120€ well spend.
My monitors seem to be capped to 30FPS when I'm on the desktop/not ingame, is there anything I can do to uncap it/bring it up to 60?
Android thread is that way -->
you pointed to the reply button somehow i don't think you planned that out very well
My monitors seem to be capped to 30FPS when I'm on the desktop/not ingame, is there anything I can do to uncap it/bring it up to 60?
Turn off vsync or sett your refresh rate to 60hz.
Turn off vsync or sett your refresh rate to 60hz.
Both in Windows and in Nvidia settings its all set to 60Hz already, turning off vsync doesn't do anything.
My monitors seem to be capped to 30FPS when I'm on the desktop/not ingame, is there anything I can do to uncap it/bring it up to 60?
Shit, your mouse cursor must feel really sluggish
Shit, your mouse cursor must feel really sluggish
Eh, it doesn't feel that bad, it's completely fucking up my fast typing though. [editline]13th February 2014[/editline] Shit, I just noticed there's ghosting on my mouse why is it starting to do this.
Somehow I doubt you can type more than 30 characters in a second.
Okay it seems to be adaptive or something, it increases depending on what's going on on my monitor, goes straight up to 60 when I go ingame, it's pretty annoying however.
By unsupported I meant not "officially", at least not in Windows. You try to give a guy a compliment and you end up being attacked, some people I don't know. Thanks for the insult "wingless Trekintosh PredGD" :suicide: .
Imagine getting mad over ratings. P.S. it is supported officially in windows so you're still wrong. [editline]13th February 2014[/editline] Also if you think 2560x1440 over VGA with a gma 950 is core, try doing it on a VIA P820. On windows 7.
iirc, FO3 was one of the ones you had to fiddle like a bitch with. Had to alt tab back in, click icon on task bar a few times, try alt tabbing a few times again. Just fuck with it until it worked.
I've found that generally when a program refuses to be alt tabbed back into you can use the task manager "applications" tab (I don't think anybody really uses this any more) and then use the "switch to" function. It works for me in EU4 anyway.
eugh c++ is such a pain in the arse.
hey I'm thinking of installing Windows 8.1 on a 3 year old Sony Vaio laptop, would compatible drivers be an issue on Windows 8 or should I just install Windows 7 instead (from Vista).

The driver model is for the most part, similar to Vista's and 7's.
