if i think about not having panic attacks every day it kinda helps i guess
Imagine how it would be like to code using that.

And I thought I had fucked up when Process.Phone wasn't responding.
I didn't know that it could even happen. Somebody tried to call me and the phone part of my smartphone crashed completely.

"fast" is relative.
my macbook has the fn ctrl layout and it look the best part of 30 sec to get used to. i also go between that and a full size windows keyboard on a mac quite often, it doesn't take much to learn

Nah, I agree with you that hydrogen fuel cell charger thing isn't at its best.
I just tried Super Meat Boy in Linux, on my laptop with a shitty AMD APU (E450), with the open-source drivers.
Holy fuck. It's good.
I like how the Xbox 360 gamepad is easier to config under Linux (as in, there's no config, plug it in and start using it) than on Windows.

Windows doesn't need any configuring either...
(Unless the game needs to be configured)

Windows still needs to go through the ridiculously slow "installing drivers" thing it does when you plug in new hardware, not to mention Windows does it per-port, so if you plug the controller or the wireless receiver into another port, you have to go through it again.
And I've recall running into a game that didn't work unless I installed the stupid extra software that shows up how your batteries are if you press guide.
But on another topic, VAC is literally a Valve botnet, they're reading your DNS cache, hashing the entries and allegedly sending them to Valve when you play a VAC-protected game.

Good, this will go well with both my google and facebook (and NSA) botnet subscriptions

Kinda sounds like VAC might work on a system of "scoring" the possibility that someone is using hacks, by using several ways of detection. Someone connects to cheat software auth servers? Chances are they're doing something related.
Kind of how, say, SpamAssassin works.

I don't really mind if they know which porn sites I visit but this might be an actual problem for some people.

If you're so paranoid about Valve knowing what your fetishes are, just flush your fuckin DNS cache before playing Counter strike :v:
On the think pad Fn key discussion, I have an option on my X220 to swap them over in the bios, works fine for me.

I don't mean the porn site part :v:
Just the whole DNS cache thing in general. I don't think it's very likely that Valve would do much with hashes of domains you visit but they could be intercepted, or requested from them.

This has an obvious purpose, checking the hashes against hashes of known cheating websites/cheat software auth websites and banning people who are connecting to those, but that seems like it'd be an easy way to get false positives.
[editline]16th February 2014[/editline]
on the conspiracy theory side, if Valve does that kind of data they could use it to advertise their products better, scan for known piracy websites, sell it to the NSA etc.

Not on windows 8 and newer, drivers install very fast.
Ofc they send information to valve so it validates that you dont use cheats
The thing that rustles me the most, is the fact that they use MD5, and not sha2
what's y'alls opinions on titanfall?
Seems decidedly meh. Movement is really well done though.
Thought it was rather funny how TB told everyone not to use high levels of AA cause you'll "tank your framerate", he's playing with 4x MSAA on his titans and ive got 16xQ CSAA on my 680.

Well is what he said not true? Ramping up the AA pretty much causes your fr to go down, by how much depends on the card(s) you have what your other settings are

yeah but its a source game. Its more to do with him using 4x with two titans, some people could easily misinterpret that "oh shit he can only manage that with two titans, im fucked"
Also I'd imagine that him using recording software along with the game would help him take a performance hit. Its not like for an LP type purpose you're going to be playing at top graphics

Maybe on win 7, but not on windows 8 it actually tells you in 2 days we will automatically update your pc and restart.
