final cut sucks get avid you fucking scrubs [editline]18th February 2014[/editline] cross platform editing that works so solidly.
I can tell you stories about Avid.

I only got a Mid-2010 Macbook Pro, and an iMac
Hackintosh is working...well enough anyway. I need to do more testing with different hardware (Blackmagic intensity card and NTFS). OSX 10.8 likes my Quadro 4000 unlike 10.9. And dual boot with Windows 7. Now that it works I don't' care about Mac vs PC, because OSX is just custom BSD.
step into my apple lair
It's easy when it works, sometimes it crashes on me. The Multicam is more of a pain that Premiere's. Avid FX isn't the nicest compositor I've used. Anyone who is thinking about Avid, NEVER AMA link non editing codecs without transcoding first. Pretty cool Sony Monitor though, is it OLED.
This reminds me that I really want side monitors for editing. But even my only major money might be my tax return, that's going to be paying for like 1/3rd of a half full semester next.
I don't like Office 2013. The metro UI feels a bit forced when you use it on W7. AND THE ALL CAPS FILE BAR IS ANNOYING AND I HATE IT.
Still using office 2007 The one where they brought in the Ribbon and sorta forgot about Publisher
Using OSX feels very convenient.
Here's the things I hate about OS X: -Don't know about newer versions of it, but I fucking hate how limited the built in FTP support is compared to Windows. -Also, it's dumb how you need to download an entire app just to change what the computer does when you hit the power button/close the screen. -There's no way to refresh a folder and normally it's not a problem but it becomes a problem on network drives -The file transfer dialog doesn't tell you the speed of the transfer -There's some hidden gestures and shit that you're apparently just supposed to know (How the fuck was I supposed to know the only way I could get rid of the update notification was to drag it to the side?) -WHY does the back and forwards gestures only work in browsers and not the finder?! -WHO THE FUCK decided that the ENTER key should RENAME files? I just...what. Oh, and AVCHD is almost impossible to use on a Mac. You HAVE to import it with a video editor, you can't just drag the .MTS files to a folder and then into the editor, nope that won't work. Already deleted all the extra files and folders that AVCHD cameras make? TOUGH SHIT. To make it even worse, final cut is painfully slow at importing, even with a fast card. I swear it makes it 3x slower than if you could just transfer the files to a folder. /rant
I'm starting to question why OSX is even a thing. It's literally Linux skewed to the point it runs it's Apple's own programs and looking pretty. [editline]18th February 2014[/editline] Oh right, we still have tech illiterates in this world. [editline]18th February 2014[/editline] And Final Cut is like $300 compared to $600 for Sony Vegas. Movie editing is a bitch apparently. [editline]18th February 2014[/editline] Make that $400 if you want the full set for Final Cut.
dat irony.
[editline]18th February 2014[/editline] also gestures aren't hidden they are all listed in the trackpad panel which most people who buy a mac go to pretty quickly
Not gestures like that, those are pretty neat except that back and forwards doesn't work in finder like I said. I love the three finger gesture to drag windows around though.
My only real problem with Mac OSX is the window management - in my opinion it's honestly atrocious compared to Window 7/8's. I don't think the file manager is that convenient, but I guess that's more because I'm not that accustomed to it - I think there's a reason why all my friends using Mac simply resort to search every time they want to find something however (though it might just be excellent, I guess).
He guys is there a good free video software yet? I really can't be arsed to obtain Vegas again and only know how to use 2 features anyway.
I tried lightworks a few months back. I'd rather cut my balls off with a spork.

I have no problems in Windows or any of the Linux DE's. But OSX is some next level shit I can't possibly comprehend. I just maxmize everything and leave it at that.
premiere pro + after effects all years after effects could really use some folders in the timeline however
i don't understand, what's difficult about it? i went from using Openbox (and still do) to OS X and don't see what the big deal is
I don't know why, I just feel like I'm retarded using it. I think part of it has to do with window size behaviors. For example, when a window is maximized, the window isn't isn't "locked" or "snapped" like it is in most DE's. You just move the window around at that maximized size. There's also no "edge detection" per se like most modern DE's have. In other words, I want the DE to do all the work for me because I hate resizing windows. Unless you know some tricks. :v: [editline]18th February 2014[/editline] I also don't really care for mission control (is that what its called?) or the dock for switching applications.
I have been using a Nas4Free server for a while now, and I like to step things up a bit. Is it possible to use the LCDproc service to show the system information straight on my Windows desktop? [T]http://i.imgur.com/ikiTmoA.png[/T] [T]http://i.imgur.com/sDfyELQ.png[/T] Quite something here I want to try, especially as this service is actually designed for Crystalfontz displays and other types. But I don't have the money to buy one of these.
He guys is there a good free video software yet? I really can't be arsed to obtain Vegas again and only know how to use 2 features anyway.
To be honest I've seen Wax do some good stuff and as far as I know I believe that's free.

I wish someone would make a USB hub with many ports that's actually electronically a many-port hub.
