I don't even work tech support and trying to get people to wrap their mind around anything computer related is hugely infuriating. Our default password for resetting customer accounts is the typical Password1!. We used to have the @ sign in there, but too many people asked where it was. Now I we just have people thinking that its typed with all caps when I say "the word password with a capital P".
My favorite was me trying to get a customer to refresh her page. I told her to click the refresh button on her browser and she had no idea where it was. She blew my opinion of her computer illiteracy status away when she told me "can I just press F5 instead?"

And what makes it more exciting is this is still on the same 28nm as Kepler, 20nm Maxwell should be even better.

I might need to put new thermal paste in my GPU. Blew out the dust in my card and it's still idling just over 50c. :(
What's some good Paste for a GPU? I used Arctic silver last time I changed it and I really don't like tearing it apart more than I have to.

Have you checked the case's airflow, or depending on how old the card is, the bearings on the fan?
been thinking of upgrading my aging PC soon and came to these parts

Haven't changed my case layout and it used to idle at 32c, and my fan is spinning and not making any squeels.

Just got done lubricating all my fans not too long ago, of course the 1 fan I thought was fine completely stopped spinning once I lugged everything back inside

I remember buying my current USB WD 500 GB for $120 at Walmart. In contrast, I bought a 2 TB WD Black internal for like $75 a couple months ago. :v:

was thinking of replacing the 780ti with a R9 290X instead, as it's cheaper and around the same performance.

It seems like more of a safer decision to test out Maxwell on a mid range card and have that have hiccups instead of us getting Fermi 2: Housefire Boogal-OH GOD STOP DROP AND ROLL SON!

It seems to be saying they will try and hit AMD where they can in mid range - size/power/temp.
Most of the AMD midrange (well most of AMDs entire range) are re-brands with increased clocks, and all of them have the hallmarks of being just that (use a fair amount of power).
Nvidia already are beating AMD in the top end with a arguably cooler, faster, and quieter card with the 780ti, they have no reason to replace their flagship gaming card yet.

Besides they probably want to release the 8xx flagship on 20nm not 28nm.
I think even if they did have a x80 level card ready, I think it's a little too early for it. Doesn't seem like the 780 Ti was that long ago. They have to stretch out their stocks and marketing.
