Had to "fix" a guys broken graphic card driver, because the screen was black.
Turned out, the monitor was just turned off.

That was me yesterday with one of the Macs in the university recording studio. We plugged in the TV to watch Netflix and someone turned off the Cinema display that was disconnected as a result, so when I plugged it back in I sat there for 5 minutes trying to figure out why the second screen won't show anything when I finally tried the power button.

Also, plausibility of finding a 3.5mm extender at Radioshack? I want to be able to plug my music into my work desktop and save phone battery at work now that my shitty eBay USB cable died. Failing that I'm sure they at least have phone chargers :v:
I don't go in on thursday or friday. And the kilby computers are shite, unless you are using the macs in which case I don't see why you wouldn't just stay at home and use your laptop.
it's because i can actually concentrate in the kilby

I'd like to have 6 devices so I can name them after the Cobra Unit. Then I can set my SSID to Groznyj Grad.

They should have one, failing that, practically everywhere sells the Male-male AUX cables, and RS should have a female-female connector

How the hell does the infrastructural mess shaped like a country that is the US get cheap, fast shipping. I wanna buy a couple chips for my consoles and they're like $7 for 6-day shipping. For an envelope.
That radiator and fan setup makes me cringe hard
The middle bit is a duct, it actually stops alot of the wind noise.

The US actually has a fairly competent highway infrastructure, because roads are the lifeline of the US. It's just slow to put in fiber and the electrical grid is aging.
How the hell does the infrastructural mess shaped like a country that is the US get cheap
lol US is far from having anywhere near an "infrastructural mess" if you compare it to the rest of the world.

Well, the fiber and internet grid could use some work because of the cable duopolies / oligopolies. Population density isn't too much of an excuse when most of the US population is clustered in dense population centers across the country and even those don't have the best internet half the time.
But overall, s' pretty alright.
Yeah I've only heard bad things about it but I guess it's only because I've heard bad things about their telecom infrastructure. You guys probably do have better highways or a functioning country-wide train network

To be fair we are getting better but we are still light-years behind Europe and Asia

Our cargo train system is just fine. It's the passenger system that's a mess, because nobody uses it because our highway system is good, car ownership is high, and gas is cheap.

For longer distance we just use planes.
Also Greyhound is still a thing but I'm not sure how used they are nowadays

They are very used by people who cant afford a car or the gas.
It's a shame, we've got an amazing rail network, but it was neglected from the 40's onward with the onset of highways and interstates, and is now relegated to freight. I see a resurgence in the future as fossil fuels become more expensive, that is of course if an alternative fuel source doesn't prove viable.
My city a hundred years ago had electric trollys that spanned the entire city, an active rail system with an amazing union station, but of course that's all gone and in its place is a dozen lifted desiel dodges every three blocks and two cars per capita. I don't really feel that we've gone forward that's for sure.

Highways yes. The US has some of the best overall road quality and quantity in the world. Trains. Pfftthhahahaha. What's a train?
The roads help with postage, as does the fact that there are several competitors in a fairly open market. It's cut throat to the extreme where shipping is concerned.
Fuck, I feel so fucking sorry to bring my friend bad news.
He got a computer, he was VERY fucking excited about it.
Turns out, he showed me it through Skype, and it looks like a Celeron III system, maybe even older.
This whole thing is a acrylic case, and I immediately noticed it was a aged computer, seeing only IDE connections and a wacky CPU cooler.
Fuck man, I really feel sorry that I told him this.
So this thing is even worse than the PC he has now.

That shit was the B O M B ten years ago. I dare someone to make a liquid cooled rig with that shit.
Yeah well. I have been thinking.
I can use this case to use for my NAS.
Since he doesn't have any use for this computer, I could make use of it! I need a case.
hot damn I need one of those cases.

But guess what, It's gonna be my NAS box, and I'll shove it under the drawer in our living room. Nice and tidy and none can notice it.
