Pepper;44008213']IIRC, you can get an IR receiver that plugs into a controller port.
I can, but I don't know if that receiver will work with the remote which works with the built-in one (maybe the protocols are different or something). And I mostly want it because it's really good looking and goes well with the console. edit: the remote is the same one as the one that came with the dongle so it should work, but I wouldn't know where to get the receiver itself :v
So I was recommended https://www.privateinternetaccess.com for VPN access. It was apparently one of the top VPN services. Anyone use this or recommend better VPNs (or cheaper ones?)
Logan from teksyndicate uses it I believe.
VyperVPN is my VPN of choice. when using it, my connection was barely affected. my 80/10 connection went down to 75/10~
that almost looks like a VFD, but there's no way it's that unless there's a camcorder battery on the other side of that thing. really bright green LEDs?
It's an early OLED screen. I customized my phone by taking parts out of the newer Timeport and putting them in the older StarTAC body. The result was an extremely sexy looking phone.

Fairly low latency, games even playable with around 100 ping added.
LAX is a shitty airport.
looks like TPB is down. No official response. I'm scared. Better be online soon :/
No one can take down tpb permanently
tpb will still be up when the sun has stopped shining
thank god i got my linux distros last night instead of this morning.
My mom found a listing for a PS2 for free on some homeschooling message board. She went and got it today. Oh boy It's an original PS2 design. And... There was another original PS2. And a rockband kit with guitar. Dance pad Midnight Club 2 NBA Live 2002 NCAA 06 Splashdown: Rides Gone Wild Spiderman In the groove Grand Turismo 3 Rock Band Star Wars Jedi Starfighter Need for Speed, Hot pursuit 2 Spiderman 2 ATV: Offroad Fury Call of Duty Finest Hour Star Wars battlefront 2 Call of Duty Big Red one Unfortunately no actual controllers with them or cables, but those are cheap. I've never owned a playstation so I'm so excited to play so many classic games I've never been able to experience. I can't express the feeling because I missed out on so much gaming culture by missing PS1 and PS2.
-porn-
Now THAT makes me jealous as hell.
How about moar lights in the transparent PSU box.
hostname: lysergic-diethylamide [sp]LSD[/sp]
They need a really good cleaning but I want to buy some component cables and a nice first part controller for it. And then collect all the cheap PS1 and PS2 classics I can.
I wish I still had my old PS2 So many great games. Shame that the pcsx2 project is still having sound/sync problems for me :/
And a rockband kit with guitar.
Original redoctane stuff? If so, damn I'm jealous. Look into FMCB if you like JRPGs and stuff, too. plenty of titles weren't released in the US.
Original redoctane stuff? If so, damn I'm jealous. Look into FMCB if you like JRPGs and stuff, too. plenty of titles weren't released in the US.
redoctane was guitar hero, man
I wish I still had my old PS2 So many great games. Shame that the pcsx2 project is still having sound/sync problems for me :/
For what kind of games? Certainly some games and some drivers still don't work right and it crashes every now and then, but with the newer PCSX2 SVN builds I can play persona 4 reasonably well with a widescreen hack on my laptop at 1080p
redoctane was guitar hero, man
Thought they were the same ones who made RB stuff?
Thought they were the same ones who made RB stuff?
It was Harmonix.
One of the PS2's which is more visibly busted up doesn't read discs. Thankfully the one which looks fine seems to function just fine. Might do a drive replacement to see.
One of the PS2's which is more visibly busted up doesn't read discs.
Sometimes they're easy to fix. I found one where it just had to move the magnet (Then one that clamps the disc to the spinning thing) to the right place.
Why are LAN games so fucking broken? It took me an hour to get a Civ 5 LAN game to work between my two gaming computers - both could host, both could join internet, neither could see each other despite the fact that I'd been transferring files between them just minutes earlier. Finally realized that one of the THREE entries for Civ 5 in Windows Firewall was disabled for private networks on my laptop. Re-enabling it lets games hosted by it be seen by my desktop, but I still can't host from the desktop. I can get why internet games could be a bitch, with NAT and all that crap, but these were two computers on the same LAN, just one IP address away from each other. It should not take that much effort to get them to communicate to each other.
TCP/IP is magic. And it never works.

PC2 - PC1 could join PC3 - Everybody can join. The game was freshly installed onto all of them. WTF seriously.
I kinda want games to not use a special port that is blocked on some networks like school or work.
In my experience schools block everything except 80 and 443
In my experience schools block everything except 80 and 443
Which is annoying because you're not going to get notifications for a bunch of apps if you're using a mobile device. In some cases it's a while later where the app is probably programmed to finally contact the server for stuff and use port 443 or 80. Usually notifications are handled in their own port while the actual content is loaded on port 80 or 443. That content sometimes won't load or update because the ports are blocked. Internet video/voice calling isn't going to work and probably a bunch of other stuff won't work too. Can I connect to a VPN and the ports will be unblocked that way or do I still have to use port forwarding for that?
Can I connect to a VPN and the ports will be unblocked that way or do I still have to use port forwarding for that?
It should work, as the school's firewall would not apply to the VPN tunnel. Unless your school has a good firewall that blocks VPNs regardless of what port they're using.
Speaking of awful networking. I dunno how new this is, the article was published today but I don't know when. It seems Apple haven't had proper SSL support in iOS for...well, nobody actually knows. https://www.imperialviolet.org/2014/02/22/applebug.html Holy shit that's such a minor thing to look over, the fact they only just noticed it is a bit worrying, how many versions back does this apply? Are all the users who cannot get the newest iOS fucked? Does it impact OSX (it would make sense to re-use certain aspects after all). The article does have some guesses at where the bug was introduced based on testing, but hey, it could appear on versions the author can't test.
