Oh, totally forgot (if anyone cared) to mention that I'm building a NAS server.
$600 build with 2x 3TB drives in software RAID1, running Ubuntu as OS. Looking at running Samba and a FTP server on it right now, but also thinking of playing with VMs down the road.
Any suggestions?

Not a horrible price at all. Go for it.
So I ordered an Asus pb278q. It arrived yesterday and after mounting it I discovered it has two borked pixels. (They are stuck in red)
I filed an RMA already. It says this monitor has a zero-bright-dot pixel policy so I hope it goes through. I didn't pay this many kronor for a borked monitor. >:(
I sent in a rebate to Corsair in fucking December and still haven't gotten it for whatever reason. Both the ASUS ones I sent at the same time got here like a week ago.

I can't open the PDF but that is that 1080p Sony wide screen monitor right? If so, you can add me to that list. I love the picture a CRT gives me.
I think this saturday I'm going to be able to order a new graphics card, just making sure that GTX 770 is still pretty much the best card in $350ish range right, haven't paid much attention to hardware since I stopped posting here.
Currently sitting in a test. I'm fucking winning. Either it was so easy, or I did it horribly wrong.

Oh god I get that feeling after anything that seems too easy. Either I'm the smartest man on earth or I must have fucked up horribly.

Stresses you out so hard too
Think I may have admin privileges on a PC at college. Can access control panel, change the task bar settings (Why they have to not allow that is beyond me) and even use the command prompt. How do I know this, because the colleges computer are locked down to high heaven usually.

Tell them to live somewhere else, like maybe Canada.
Maybe it's because it's a red laptop :v:
the melted part above the keyboard is right on top of the DC jack.

If it's any consolation, the thing i'm trying to break isn't breaking as it should

I'm sorry the lack of sympathy the owner gets from me is absolutely fucking zero.
Also it's the UK. How is it still fucking hot. You should be frosted in ice.
Agreed there, advent stuff ESPECIALLY their laptops are fucking abominations.

These things come in the shop so often. I had to do a DC jack on one once, never again. i had to pull the whole thing to pieces and actually BEND some of the motherboard holder to get it out.
At the end of doing that DC jack, i was more broken than the laptop was before i started.

It's a great thing to have. The ability to just glance at your wrist to see what the text you just got was is awesome. Especially considering I don't always feel it in my pocket, you can't miss it on your wrist.

I already own one. I have a friend who owns two. AmigaOS had one but was stupid enough to leave it at his old house.
Great monitor of it wasn't for the fact it's bigger than my car and weights more than your mom. Just get an LCD panel.
Warship.
Well the admin privileges thing may have an answer, I believe it is specific to one machine in the library. Went on a computer in class and was back to normal, going to see if I can get back on that machine on Friday to confirm it or that it was a one off.
If I do, should I dare do a ping test from the command line?

Who?
WOAHHHHHHH WHAT
As awesome as a 24" widescreen CRT can be you're really better off with an LCD panel.
I don't care about your black levels. It's bad when you have to buy a hardwood desk specifically to support the weight of the monitor. When I helped my friend setup his desk frame for his two years ago it took six months for the 1/2" particle board to give out under the weight. The bezels shattered in the fall but now he runs them skinless and hanging from the ceiling using bolts and steel cable.
They're not worth the effort to use.
Edited: On the other hand they make great conversation starters at conventions and events so I keep one around. It would be worth it to build a VFO profile for the monitor so I could drag it and an SGI down to QuakeCon. Be the only guy there with a machine the size of a mini fridge, needing 240v power, using one of the largest consumer CRT's and fragging the good ol' way with (formerly) half a million dollars in hardware.
