SO LET ME TELL YOU A RANT.
Today I was pulled into a meeting in the office during first period over some stuff they found on my drive.
As I can recall, I have Inventor files, a mess of school documents, a Notepad++ installation, Powder Toy, PuTTy, simple .bat files for small things, a few junk files, and a Port Scanner with a few port scan documents.
They only discussed the port scan documents which, as I can tell from the port scanned, I was checking what devices had RDP support for some reason I can't remember followed by questioning why I had a RDP connection file to which I explained for (Used for working on files and very shortly used to browse blocked sites admittedly). Continuing on, they asked about why I use OneDrive over the school issued Drive with the excuse that Office worked so much better with OneDrive, but forgetting to mention that I had a link on my drive to log into my OneDrive so I can open files directly instead of downloading, editing, and reuploading. I did however mention that these two services are synced together by automated methods on my computer. More talk about small things but the one thing that bothered me the most was this.
One of the batch files was made to go around the command-line block on the computers so I can continue writing my bits of code more easily and one of the tech guys from south discussed the harmful intent of that which he created a admin account using the command-line to get admin privileges on the computer.
And I couldn't ask about how legitimate it was for our own network because when I did, he dismissed it with 'Not relevant'.
So here I am, accepting all of these accusations, but this one accusation of using the command-line to get admin privileges on the computer was asinine. Because who knows if he grabbed a school test computer under normal student privileges or if he tested this in some VM on a stock Windows by enabling the hidden admin account that should be non-existent on our network while having all my school accounts, including Drive for some unknown reason, suspended until further notice.
Oh god. So I'm working with another web developer for a project and go to send him the stuff, I ask "Is git okay?"
He says "Git... Yeah, that should be fine."
5 minutes later of confusion and trying to work stuff out...
"What is Git."
THIS IS GOING TO GO WELL
GUYS GUYS GUYS DROP EVERYTHING!
Horrible news has occurred! Logitech has stopped making the G300! I had just submitted a support warranty ticket because I was having problems with the computer end of the USB cable and tehy responded quickly, asked for my address and proof of purchase, etc, which was fine. Then they told me that the G300 was out of production and they'd send me an equivalent device. The G300 cost $35. The closest equivalent that Logitech currently makes is the G100S, which costs $39.99. My mouse has 9 buttons, the G100S has 4. My mouse has nifty colored lights that I can control. The G100S does not. My mouse has programmable macros and DPI settings. The G100S.... does not.
The closest mouse in function to my mouse is the G400S, but the G400S isn't ambidextrous, small, or nearly as inexpensive as mine. I'm going to ask if they possibly have some old stock of the G300. If there's no way, I'll take the G100S or G400S or whatever they give me, sell or give it to someone, and then buy a G300 from Best Buy who still has some in stock.
Also having to learn this thing called Alice. First use of it required me to fix the batch file because it apparently uses the install directory it was given and not have something like %CD% to tell it where it is. So in this case, I installed it during school on my USB drive because I have no time to use my DSL for downloading while my drive was using something like E:/ and returned home and have it mounted as G:/. So the batch is trying to open it on E:/.
After that, I proceeded to be very confused of how the hell to use a GUI centric IDE.
Also this.

We have to use turtle for a python class. It's like telling an autistic kid how to draw
Go forward 50, turn left 90, forward 20, draw a dot
Much like an autistic kid, if you get a single syntax error or forget to put done() at the end of your script, the whole window freezes up and makes you force close it

Why not use a portable truecrypt installation? and create a container on the drive and store everything there?
Here's a question for you guys, I have an SSD with my OS and other programs on it, along with a 1TB storage drive (that's not nearly that full). If I buy another 1TB or larger drive, can I RAID 1 both the SSD and the 1TB drive? Maybe it's called something else other than RAID 1.

they'd probably get pissed for that too, I know our school had a rule saying 'no encryped or passworded folders'
I'm not super familiar with all the ins and outs of RAID, but from what I understand the drives have to be similar, or exactly the same model to raid them together.

And if you put an SSD and HDD in RAID, the SSD will only run at the speed of the HDD

How long did it take you to learn and make that? I really want to make something for my tablet.
I thought about buying Assetto Corsa, decided for it, went on Steam and saw that there's a 33% weekend sale.
Just gave it a try - go fucking buy it, now.
I want to buy a wheel now, that was brilliant.
And if you put an SSD and HDD in RAID, the SSD will only run at the speed of the HDD
Yes, but I'm not even sure how the controller would react.
It'd probably have an aneurysm

My highschool had that. They would delete zip files, hidden folders, and a bunch of other stuff like that at random. They eventually deleted the plane folders that a few of us had labeled "games".
At that point we 7zipped everything and renamed the zips to .doc. They never figured it out.

Good thing we have to bring our own devices. So we don't have shit like this.
Also I love the fact that we don't have anything like a "zero tolerance policy" makes me really glad.
[editline]8th March 2014[/editline]
But a few yeard back, we still had school computers, we just used to store everything on USB disks, so we never had to worry about getting in trouble, cause of admins finding shit on shared folders.
